Focus: Removing the Weeds From Our Lives
Scripture: Hebrews 12:15
Just like weeds can choke out healthy growth in a garden, spiritual weeds can hinder what God is trying to grow in us.
Some of the “weeds” in our lives can include:
* Bitterness
* Unforgiveness
* Anger
* Jealousy
* Pride
* Fear
* Toxic relationships
* Bad habits
* Negative thinking
We must first recognize the weeds, then remove them at the root. It’s not enough to cover things up or simply say, “I’ll do better.” Some roots require forgiveness, repentance, boundaries, changed habits, and letting go of certain people, places, or mindsets that are competing with God’s purpose for our lives.
Once the weeds are removed, we have to replace them with what comes from God:
* Replace bitterness with forgiveness.
* Replace fear with faith.
* Replace negative thinking with God’s Word.
* Replace unhealthy relationships with the courage to walk with God.
Today, put down the microscope and pick up the mirror. Ask yourself: What is growing in my life that God never intended to be there?
This may be your season to pull up the weeds—not tomorrow, not next month, but now.
You can’t expect a healthy harvest while protecting unhealthy roots. God has greater for you. Get the weeds out.
*Reminder: There’s a lot happening this Saturday! We look forward to connecting with you.
