Redeemer's worship services are in the Vine City community, which is located in the shadows of the Georgia Dome, just north of the Atlanta University Center. However, our congregation is made up of folks from the communities of Vine City, Washington Park, Ashview Heights, Pittsburgh, and other neighboring communities. Our communities have a rich history dating back into the 1800’s and were major p

layers in the Civil Rights movement, with Dr. King’s family living right in the heart of Vine City. However, due to a number of factors, the communities began to decline in the late 70’s and early 80’s and slowly turned into a blighted neighborhood due to drug trafficking, high crime rates, abandoned and boarded up houses, and struggling neighborhood schools. As a church in and for our community, we long to holistically love our neighbors through building relationships, understanding the needs of our community through these relationships, and coming alongside our neighbors to see both our need for Christ and work to see change in our community. We firmly believe that Redeemer is called to be a neighborhood, parish-model church, and long for our church to be made up of friends and neighbors that we see on an everyday basis. We want the family of Redeemer to not simply come together on Sunday to worship, but to spend time with one another throughout the week and encouraging one another in our daily call to live as people who are loved by Jesus.
