This week in 2nd grade we explored the skill of observation during science. We learned about the man who used microscopes to observe things around him...most notably the discovery of bacteria and germs. (Bonus points for anyone who can name this man WITHOUT using the internet!) Students used our magnifying glasses to observe something in our classroom that they had never seen before. They were surprised to find out that the table top had speckles of different color, there was dirt where they couldn't see it with their "naked eye" (the term for not using tools to help us see), dust on the tissue box, and texture on paper. They wrote their observation down in their science notebook, just like the man in our read aloud. It's so fun exploring the world the God made and to find the surprises he leaves for us to observe.

Take time today to observe something new in your environment....you don't always need a magnifying glass to find surprises from God around us. This could even be a fun family activity to do at dinner or on a walk around your neighborhood. Share a picture here of your observations.

Over the past few weeks, God has brought many new children into his gracious fold at Riverview! Welcome to Magnolia, Estelle, Sully, Gracie, and Enzo! May God continue to bless you as you grow to know him more and more!

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these" (Mark 10:14).

We will address these questions and more and build our confidence in God's Word, as we read and discuss "How the Bible Came to Be." Join us five sessions on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month, September 17 - November 19, at 6:30 pm. Childcare will be available upon request.

'Twas the night before school, when all through RLS,
Not a Roadrunner stirred, not even a mess.

The backpacks were packed and the school shoes were near,
For the first day of school was finally here!

Mrs. McElroy had her 3K crew on her mind,
While Mrs. Manske had 4K ready to shine.
Mrs. Nolte’s kindergarteners would soon find their way,
And Mrs. Winsor’s first graders would start their first day.

Mrs. Romberg had second grade ready to go,
While Mrs. Winder had third graders in tow.
Mr. Loroff’s fourth grade was ready to soar,
And Mrs. Larson had fifth grade knocking on the door.

Middle school was waiting, with lessons in store,
Mrs. Eggert, Mrs. Nolte and Mr. Witte had more!

And Mr. Bengel, our principal, checked every detail,
Making sure our Roadrunners were ready to sail.

Mrs. Krueger was ready to welcome them in,
While the halls waited quietly for the noise to begin.

The library, lunchroom, and after-school care too,
Were all getting ready for our favorite crew.

But more than the pencils, the backpacks and books,
More than the classrooms and bright hallway looks,
We’re ready for a year centered firmly on Christ,
With His Word as our guide and His love as our light.

So sleep well, Roadrunners, tomorrow we start!
With learning, laughter, friendship and heart.

New adventures await, and one thing is true:
There’s no better place to be than RLS with you! 💙🤍

See you tomorrow, Roadrunners!

There’s something pretty chic about a school where faith isn’t just part of the curriculum, but part of everything we do. 💙

From teachers preparing their hearts and minds before the school year begins, to praying over their students each morning, to learning God’s Word alongside their academics, we’re grateful for the opportunity to keep Christ at the center.

Because at Riverview, we’re not just preparing students for the next grade. We’re helping prepare them for a life rooted in Christ.

Kinda chic? We think so. 😉💙
