For Our City, #3

Meet Jenna, pictured here with her twin sister, DeeDee, and her brother, Alan.
Jenna faithfully serves Downtown Hope on our children’s ministry staff, investing in the lives of the kids and families who make up our church.

Today, our church family gathered to celebrate the life of Jenna’s husband and support her during a difficult season. We’re grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside one another, not just in moments of celebration, but in times of loss and remembrance, too.
We’re thankful for Jenna and the family she shares with us here at Downtown Hope.

For Our City, #02

Today on our prayer walk, we found ourselves admiring the beautiful houses in the neighborhood and noticed a man tending to his garden of wildflowers.

We stopped to talk and met Paul, who has called this neighborhood home for 50 years! He shared stories of how much the area has changed, from the railroads that once ran through the neighborhood to the houses that stand in their place today.

One of the sweetest parts of our conversation was discovering that he remembered when Downtown Hope would put out donuts on Sunday mornings. He used to walk by with his grandkids to grab some, a small memory that connects his family’s story to the history of our church.

Sometimes, loving our city starts with slowing down, appreciating the beauty around us, and taking the time to listen to the people who have called it home for decades.

Worshiping Jesus, growing in faith, and sharing life with one another. We’re grateful for the family of faith God is building here at Downtown Hope, and we’re reminded every week that we were never meant to follow Jesus alone.

Lifting our voices in worship, encouraging one another, and reminding each other of the hope we have in Jesus. We’re grateful for the ways God continues to meet us in these moments and for the family of faith He’s bringing together at Downtown Hope.

The best part of Sunday is that we get to do it together.
