Idleness is a sin that puts unnecessary burdens on families, churches, and even society as a whole, and it leads to death and destruction. Yet, Jesus renews our work and productivity as a means to bring glory to God and honor to our family.

"Pride can simply be described as self-centered worship. It is idolatry of the self. It’s the kind of sin that says to God, “I’m the king of this world…” “I’m the god of my universe…” “I’m the god of my life…” Pride is the common denominator of all sin."

This we began looking at the Seven Deadly Sins, but we don’t want to just talk about sin and confront it head on. We want to confront it head on with God’s grace and mercy and forgiveness, which transforms us all allows us to kill sin. We want to have a funeral for the sins we keep alive. In week 2 of Made For Mission, we explored the command to love your neighbor as yourself. In order to do that, we need to know what it looks like to love yourself. What we find is that we desire to give ourselves the best of everything; and if thats what it takes to love ourselves, to love people is to invest into their lives and give them the best of everything. Paul has a consistent pattern of initiating with intent, investing with patience, and inspiring with perseverance the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Twenty-five years ago today, our nation changed forever.

Today, we remember.

We remember the lives lost.
We remember the families forever changed.
We remember the heroes who ran toward danger.

And we pray for America.

We pray for a nation still desperately in need of hope.

We pray for churches to shine brightly in their communities.

We pray for believers to boldly share the gospel with their neighbors.

We pray for pastors and church leaders faithfully proclaiming Christ.

We pray for new churches to take root in communities where the gospel is desperately needed.

And we pray for God to send more workers into the harvest.

Because 25 years later, the need across North America is still great.

America still needs Jesus.

So today, let's remember.

Let's pray.

And let's ask God to use His people to take the gospel to every corner of our country.

Will you stop and pray for America with us today?

Paul's unwavering faith is built on the promises of God; he believes in the depths of his bones that God will do all that he says he will do. Even when faced with something like deadly storms and shipwreck, Paul's life and ministry is a testament that unwavering faith is built on the promises of God.
