As a Christian fellowship on campus, we have often forgotten to follow the commandment of loving thy neighbour as thyself. Recently, the issues of injustice that Black Americans face have resurfaced in mainstream media and we see how much they are hurting from the flawed systems set in our society. We apologize for our silence and lack of response. We realize that we should be fighting alongside our brothers and sisters of color to change these systems to be more equitable. We promise to stand with the Black American community as Asian American allies in the pursuit of justice. We will strive to educate ourselves and each other in empathy and understanding, taking steps to be active in our local communities.

As an organization, AIV will incorporate and discuss topics of justice in our community groups, and learn more about racial issues during large groups. We also hope to collaborate with other student organizations.

We invite you to seek justice and be peacemakers with us. We encourage members to actively engage in these topics and push each other to be more and more loving and Christ-like. Without you, the culture of AIV will not change and the changes we are making as an organization would be in vain.

Message any leader to let us know about any other ways we may participate in racial reconciliation as a fellowship.

- Outdoors and will be at different locations, groupings probably based on CG
- No group will have more than 10 people (will probably have less)
- Will maintain 6 feet of social distancing between each person. Masks required
- Will make and decorate lanterns
- Have time for self reflection, and share our wishes and how we may be ‘lights’ in our communities in the coming semester

The University of Michigan Blessing

God is at work on campus! What a beautiful opportunity to come together as a Body of Christ. May His presence continue to spur us on in love for God and His people.
