THE BODY OF SISTER ASTERIA MANDA HAS BEEN LAID TO REST

The body of Late Sister Sr Asteria Manda of the Sisters of the Holy Rosary was laid to rest on 21 August 2026 at Bishop-Katoto cemetery in Mzuzu.

Sister Asteria Manda died on 20th August 2026 at St John's Hospital in Mzuzu after battling with High Blood Pressure (BP) .

Born 1966 , Sister Asteria Manda made her first Religious life vows in the congregation of Sisters of the Holy Rosary in 1988.

She has gone to the father at the age of 60 and she has served 38 years as a Religious Sister of Sisters of the Holy Rosary.

May the Soul of Sister Asteria Manda Rest in Eternal Rest

BISHOP NYIRENDA ANNOUNCES COMMENCEMENT OF ST PETER' S CATHEDRAL EXPANSION

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Mzuzu, Rt. Rev. Yohane Suzgo Nyirenda, on 9 August 2026, announced the plans to start the expansion of St. Peter’s Cathedral in Mzuzu which is aimed at accommodating the growing number of worshippers and other major diocesan events like Chrisim mass, religious anniversaries and funerals.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Tigabane, Bishop Nyirenda said the current structure has become too small, forcing many Christians to worship while sitting outside.

The Bishop also disclosed that the Papal Foundation from Rome has already provided financial support towards the first phase of the expansion.

On his part, Administrator of St. Peters Cathedral Fr. Andrew Chunda commended the Bishop for the initiative and said he will work hand in hand with him to ensure the project succeeds.

Fr. Chunda said he will mobilize Christians and physically dedicate his time to the project once the building plans are approved by Mzuzu City Assembly.

The idea to expand the cathedral was conceived over 10 years ago and is expected to address space challenges and strengthen pastoral activities at St. Peter’s Cathedral.
