The IIB Youth Desk, in collaboration with the MASYAP Coordinator, Sister Doreen Iman, and under the leadership of Sheikh Mustahab Ayami, MAT Communications Manager, visited Mangochi to engage learners from Nangapoche CDSS and Mtindiwale CDSS in a session dedicated to character development and academic excellence. The activity was conducted under the Mai Aisha Trust initiative, which supports and partially sponsors selected schools within the district.

The keynote address emphasized that a person’s background does not determine their future. It further explored themes of morality, responsible decision-making, and the consequences attached to everyday choices. Under the theme “Choices Matter: Building Strong Character and Moral Discipline,” students reflected on common behavioral challenges and how consistent habits whether positive or negative can influence long-term outcomes.

Participants were encouraged to practice integrity, accountability, and responsibility in both their public behavior and private lives. The session highlighted the strong link between moral discipline, academic focus, personal development, and future success. Ultimately, the engagement aimed to inspire learners to make intentional choices and build a solid foundation for a meaningful and productive life.

Over the weekend, the IIB Youth Desk went to Balaka Islamic Institute, where secondary school students were engaged in a moral and academic enlightenment session organised under the Mai Aisha Trust initiative, targeting schools it supports and partially sponsors.

During the visit, a keynote talk was delivered on Morality, Choices, and Consequences under the theme “Choices Matter: Building Strong Character and Moral Discipline.” The session addressed common immoral behaviours among secondary school students and highlighted how small daily choices can lead to serious long-term consequences.

Students were encouraged to uphold moral responsibility, accountability, and integrity, with emphasis placed on maintaining good character both in public and private life. The session aimed to help learners understand the impact of their actions and to appreciate the role of moral discipline in academic focus, personal development, and future success.

On 15 November 2025, the Islamic Information Bureau (IIB) successfully conducted a coordinated youth workshop across all six of its bureaus nationwide. Each bureau hosted a group of 15 participants, bringing the total number of young attendees to 90. The initiative aimed to inspire young Muslims to rediscover their identity, strengthen their Islamic values, and recognise their role as future leaders of Malawi.

The workshop covered essential topics such as discipline, ambition, Islamic character, and the growing challenges facing young people today including po*******hy, drug abuse, phone addiction, low ambition, and weakened spiritual identity. Participants engaged in reflective exercises, group discussions, and goal-setting sessions designed to help them adopt healthier habits, build resilience, and develop a long-term vision for their lives.

Facilitators emphasised the importance of academic focus, skill-building, responsible behaviour, and service to the community, reminding the youth that they are key contributors to the transformation of Malawi. The program concluded with a powerful pledge, as all participants committed themselves to becoming disciplined, responsible, and visionary Muslim young men ready to make a positive impact in both their communities and the nation.

Today, I spoke and attended a vibrant youth gathering organized by the Iqra University Muslim Students Association (MSA), under the leadership of their Chairman, Shamran Abdullah. The event brought together students from various colleges, including special guests from Domasi College of Education. Centered on the theme “Upholding Islamic Values in University Life,” the program encouraged young Muslims to stay firm in their faith while navigating academic and social challenges.

In my address, titled “Who Are We as Muslim Youth?” I challenged the students to reflect on their identity, purpose, and role as ambassadors of Islam within and beyond campus life. I reminded them that true excellence lies in harmonizing knowledge, faith, and good character — becoming youth who lead with both intellect and integrity.

This is Ismail Sulaiman James Matola, sharing his powerful story at the IIB Youth Desk Boys Camp 2025 held at Blantyre Islamic Mission.

He narrates how he lost both parents at a very young age, went through hardship, and almost lost track of his education. Through the support of his guardians and holding on to faith, he managed to rise above the challenges.

Today, he is a third-year student at Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), studying Construction Technology. His story is a true testimony that no matter the trials, Allah tests everyone within their limits, and with Taqwa, Imaan, and Sabr, every challenge can be overcome. 🌙💪📖
