At the Belfrey, we love the Bible.

We believe God's Word is living, active, and just as relevant today as it has always been. It shapes who we are, points us to Jesus, and helps us grow as His disciples.

Every time we gather, opening the Bible is at the heart of what we do because we believe God still speaks through His Word.

Whatever season you're in, we'd encourage you to spend time in Scripture this week and allow God to speak to you through it.

Don't forget, Summer Sundays begin this week!

Throughout the summer we'll be gathering at 9am and 11am, with children's provision during the talk at the 11am service.

We're also kicking off our brand new series in Philippians: *To Live is Christ*. Over six weeks we'll journey through this incredible letter together, discovering what it means to live with joy, purpose and confidence in Jesus.

We'd love to welcome you to church this summer. Why not invite a friend or family member to come along with you?

Our summer pattern of 9am and 11am services will run until the end of August. Then, from Sunday 6th September, we'll return to our usual 9am, 11am and 6pm service times.

At St Michael le Belfrey, we're preparing for a once-in-a-generation moment. In 2027 we will return to our transformed medieval church building following the completion of Impact - our multi-million-pound restoration and redevelopment project that will create new opportunities for worship, mission, discipleship and serving the city of York.

We're looking for an exceptional Head of Operations to help lead us through this exciting and demanding season of change and beyond. Working alongside the Priest in Charge and senior leadership team and as a member of the Impact Project Team, you'll play a pivotal role in preparing for our return, embedding new ways of working, and ensuring the operational excellence needed to support a thriving, growing church.

This is a unique opportunity to combine strategic leadership, organisational expertise and a passion for mission as we seek to bring God's transformation to the North and position the Belfrey for its next season.

This is a permanent full time role (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional Sunday and evening work). The role will be based out of the Belfrey’s office in central York, although there will be requirements to work across the church locations in York. Some flexibility for hybrid working may be considered.

Salary: Pay Band E £42-£47k depending on experience

There is a genuine occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010 for the post holder to be a practicing Christian, committed to the values and mission of St Michael le Belfrey. The Belfrey is committed to the safeguarding and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All posts are subject to recruitment process in line with Church of England guidelines which includes: enhanced criminal records and barring checks, security of employment history, robust referencing and qualifications checks. Yesterday our congregations were read the following letter from The Rt Revd Dr Flora Winfield, Bishop of Selby

"Following the recent process of prayer and discernment, I am delighted to be able to announce today, Sunday 12th July, that the Rev’d Andy Baker has accepted the appointment as Priest in Charge (Vicar Designate) of York, St Michael le Belfrey.

Andy is, of course, well known to you having been serving as Associate Minister and, most recently, as Interim Priest in Charge at the Belfrey. Now, Andy moves into a new substantive ministry, and will be leading the Belfrey in this important next season of your life together in mission. I know that Andy will be a committed and innovative leader and partner in the life of the Belfrey, of the City and the Diocese of York, and of the North, as you serve the many communities in your care, reaching out in holiness, generosity and adventure for the Gospel.

Andy is a wise, prayerful and compassionate pastor and preacher, and I will be praying for Andy, for Hayley and their family, and for St Michael le Belfrey, as you continue to grow together in faith, life, witness and service in your shared calling to live Christ’s story."
