At St Michael le Belfrey, we're preparing for a once-in-a-generation moment. In 2027, we will return to our transformed medieval church building following the completion of Impact - our multi-million-pound restoration and redevelopment project that will create new opportunities for worship, mission, discipleship, and serving the city of York.

We're looking for an exceptional Interim Head of Operations to help lead us through this exciting and demanding season of change. Working alongside the Priest in Charge and Senior Leadership Team, and serving as a member of the Impact Project Team, you will play a pivotal role in preparing for the return to our original church building, embedding new ways of working, and ensuring the operational excellence needed to support a thriving, growing church.

The contract is expected to last around 18 months, until the Impact Project is completed and we have finished the handover phase, at which time the requirements will be reassessed.

This is a full time role (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional Sunday and evening work). The role will be based out of The Belfrey’s office in central York, although there will be requirements to work across the church buildings in York. Some flexibility for hybrid working may be considered.

Belfrey Women!

Please join us on Saturday 13th June, 10.30am-12.30pm, at the De Grey Rooms, as we gather to pray for one another, for our city and for our sisters in Christ in the persecuted church.

As this event will be during the 21-day Belfrey Fast, we will only be providing tea and coffee. There is no cost to the event; however, it would be helpful if you could book on, so we have an idea of numbers for set-up.

We believe in the power of prayer, that as we meet together, the Lord's presence is with us and as we join in with His heart and intercede for His people and for the least, the last and the lost, we see lives and places transformed by the power of His Spirit.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Next Wednesday be hosting 24 Hours of Worship in the De Grey Rooms.

From 7pm on Wednesday through to 7pm on Thursday, we'll be setting aside an entire day to worship, pray, and seek God together during our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting.

Whether you can come for an hour, a few hours, or longer, we'd love you to be part of it. Come and spend time in God's presence, join with others in worship, and help us fill the room with continuous praise for 24 hours.

We're expectant for what God will do as we gather to seek Him together.

This weekend join us at The Well at St Cuthbert’s for a continuous 2 days of prayer, during our 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting.

From 8am on Friday to 8am on Sunday, we want to keep the fires of prayer burning day and night. Come on your own or with your Belfrey Group, family or friends to be part of it.

A range of prayer stations, interactive guided activities and focusses will be available to you. Or simply enjoy the peace and time the time to listen to the Lord and seek His voice for our church, as we pray and fast.

The Assistant Student Worker will play a key role in helping students encounter Jesus, grow as disciples, find belonging in Christian community, and live on mission at university and beyond.

This role sits at the heart of the student ministry at The Belfrey. The student years are a formative season: young adults are exploring faith, building deep friendships, discovering their gifts, stepping into leadership, and learning what it means to make Jesus known in the places God has put them. The student ministry is a place of worship, discipleship, mission, pastoral care and leadership development.

Working closely with the Student Worker, the Assistant Student Worker will help create a clear, welcoming and intentional student ministry culture where students are known, discipled, equipped and sent. Alongside the relational and pastoral life of the ministry, this role will also help strengthen the systems, rhythms and practices that enable the student ministry to grow healthily and sustainably.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who loves Jesus, loves students, and wants to be part of what God is doing among students in York. It is also a place to be developed, stretched and formed as they grow in ministry.
