Barnabas Aid is an international Christian aid agency that supports churches, communities and individuals who are suffering or facing persecution and discrimination because of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. By raising awareness of the urgent needs of the suffering Church around the world, we seek to inspire Christians to pray and to give in support of our brothers and sisters in Christ. We work in close partnership with local churches and trusted Christian ministries in some of the world’s most challenging contexts. By funding and supporting projects that are developed and led locally, we strengthen their work and help meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of suffering and persecuted believers.

Sadly, the long-lasting effects of Hurricane Melissa are still a stark reality for communities living in Cuba. Lack of food, clean drinking water and frequent power cuts all mean that they live with fear and uncertainty.

What a privilege we have to support from afar those who still bear the impact of this life-altering natural disaster! Let's continue to pray as many believers face these daily struggles.

Encourage in New Zealand welcomed more than 350 supporters to the eight events held across the country!

Attendees learned what life is like for Christians in Pakistan, told by our project coordinator. They also heard the amazing stories of two Afghan refugee families who have found safety here in Aotearoa New Zealand, thanks to local support.

Our BANZ team loved meeting everyone who came out: some had supported for decades, others had heard of Barnabas within just the last month. We were encouraged by their compassion and heart – just as we pray that their faith was strengthened through the stories of those who suffer for the Name of Christ.

From unconfident and unemployed to encouraged, qualified and mentored. For at-risk youth in Harare, Zimbabwe, the training programme your donations have supported has been life changing.

The 98 attendees were trained hands-on in electronics diagnostics, soldering, screen replacement, component repair and device maintenance.

Many had faced unemployment due to limited educational opportunities or discouragement. They've now been taught and mentored and have the employable skills and opportunities to earn an income and contribute meaningfully to their families, local communities and churches.

Thank you so much for giving towards these young people's lives. "I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten" (Joel 2:25).

Grant us, Lord Jesus, the capacity to stand, and even suffer with, our brothers and sisters in North Korea who risk their lives by following You. Please protect them as they meet in secret and fill them with courage wherever they go, to follow Your truth despite the risks.

We intercede for those held in labour camps, that they will know the overwhelming power of Your love even through the harshest trials they endure.

We pray for Christians practising their faith in secret to know discernment in how to be lights in a dark world and be kept safe, for we ask in Your most holy Name.

A three-year-old boy was among at least 12 Christian residents killed by suspected Fulani Islamists in attacks on farming communities in Benue State in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.

Nine Christians were killed in Tse-Biliji, Ukum Local Government Area (LGA), on 9 October, after three others were killed in Omulonye, Otukpo LGA on 7 October.

Benue State’s population is 98% Christian.

Under the Taliban’s repressive rule, women and girls in Afghanistan have been stripped of their most basic freedoms, denied access to education and severely restricted in their ability to work, travel and even speak in public.

Years of conflict have left many women widowed and solely responsible for providing for their children.

Barnabas Aid’s project partners plan to equip Christian widows with carpet looms, along with the tools, threads and wool needed to start carpet-weaving enterprises and earn an income. They will also help your sisters gather regularly and form small home fellowships, sparking Church growth.

Defence lawyers have criticised a decision by the Pakistan Supreme Court to uphold the death sentence for “blasphemy” against Christian father-of-three Qaiser Ayub, 49.

They described as “devastating” the court’s dismissal on 7 October of Qaiser’s appeal against his conviction under Section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code for allegedly defiling the name of Muhammad, the prophet of Islam.
