šŸŒž Summer Kid’s Club might be in full swing … but FareShare never stops! šŸ’š

Even with all the sunshine, crafts, games and giggles happening at Summer Kid’s Club, our FareShare deliveries keep rolling in; steady, faithful and full of good food that goes straight back into our community.

This week’s crates came packed with fresh oranges, macaroons, and plenty of other good bits that help families stretch their cupboards a little further. Nothing goes to waste and everything goes where it’s needed most.

We’re still here, still serving, still sorting, still sharing.
Because community care doesn’t take a summer break and neither do we. šŸ’›

🌿 A Fresh New Week at Gorse Hill

A new week begins, and we step into it afresh with conviction, ambition and a deep desire to give our very best to the mission God has placed before us. Not because we are perfect, but because with God, all things are good and He strengthens every willing heart.

This week, our mission continues to grow in beautiful ways:

✨ Summer Kid’s Club – Week Two
We’re ready for another week of creativity, imagination and joy as children return for more Narnia‑themed adventures. We pray for energy for our team, confidence for every child and moments of wonder that remind us why this ministry matters.

šŸ“š Breakfast with a Book – Getting Ready!
Preparations are well underway for our family reading mornings; a space to feed tummies and imaginations. Here’s a reminder of the dates coming up:

• Tuesday 11 August
• Thursday 13 August
• Tuesday 18 August
• Thursday 20 August
• Tuesday 25 August

šŸ•’ 9.30am – 11.00am
šŸ’› Ā£1 per child

šŸ™ A Prayer for the Week Ahead
Lord, guide us as we step into this new week.
Remind us that perfection isn’t required, only willingness.
Bless Summer Kid’s Club, bless Breakfast with a Book and bless every person who walks through our doors.
Let Your goodness shine through all we do.

Here’s to a week filled with purpose, kindness and God‑given strength.

šŸŽ¬ Junior Church brought the energy this week and the Bible knowledge too!
Our young people created their very own video to Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up and it was absolutely fantastic. Full of laughter, creativity and some very dramatic poses, they turned a classic song into a brilliant faith activity.

But behind the fun was something deeper. Over the past few weeks, our Junior Church has been learning how to navigate the books of the Bible, finding passages, understanding where things are and growing confident in using Scripture for themselves.

✨ Here are the verses acted out:

• Isaiah 54:10 - Never gonna give you up
God’s love stands firm even when everything else shakes.
• Romans 5:5 - Never gonna let you down
Hope in God never disappoints.
• Deuteronomy 31:6 - Never gonna turn around and desert you
He will never leave or forsake us.
• Psalm 56:8 - Never gonna ignore your tears
God sees every tear and holds every hurt.
• Isaiah 41:10 - Never gonna say goodbye
He strengthens, helps and upholds us.
• Jeremiah 29:11 - Never gonna tell a lie or hurt you
His plans are good, filled with hope and a future.

šŸ“– The best part?
The children found these verses themselves, flipping through pages, spotting familiar books, helping each other and celebrating every discovery. This project wasn’t just creative; it was a hands‑on way to build confidence in using the Bible.

🌟 Junior Church isn’t just learning, they’re exploring, creating and discovering God’s promises in ways that are joyful, memorable and full of life.

āœļøThis morning at Swindon Gorse Hill, we were invited to think deeply about a powerful question: Are we building walls… or bridges?

We were reminded that walls can feel safe, but they often shut people out and can quietly hold back the growth of a church. Bridges, however, stretch across divides, arch over water and create pathways to reconciliation, healing and new relationships. They help us meet one another where we are.

Our young people explored this idea with LEGO, building both walls and bridges to show the congregation. Their creations helped us see how easy it is to stack bricks into barriers… and how intentional we must be when choosing to build a bridge instead.

A beautiful morning of worship, reflection, hope and momentum.

⭐ SMARTIE TUBE CAMPAIGN UPDATE!

What a difference a few weeks can make! Our Smartie Tube total has climbed all the way to Ā£233.52 and we couldn’t be more grateful. Every tube returned, every handful of small change, is helping us move closer to the work we’re called to do here in Gorse Hill.

It’s amazing to see how quickly this little idea has grown and we’re genuinely excited to put this generosity to use in our mission: supporting our community, offering welcome and making sure people know they’re cared for.

If you’ve filled your tube, bring it back and grab another. If you haven’t started yet, it’s as simple as popping your spare change into a tube.

Small coins, big impact.

āœļø Sunday Morning Worship

This Sunday at 10 AM, we’re gathering for a time of worship at The Salvation Army Swindon Gorse Hill and we’ll be exploring a big question for our lives, our community and our faith:

Do we build bridges… or walls?

Come as you are. Bring your questions, your hopes, your prayers.
There’s a warm welcome waiting for you.

As August arrives, we step into a fresh month filled with purpose, hope and community. Just as the waves smooth the shoreline, we pray that God will prepare our hearts for all He has planned at Gorse Hill.

This month brings more mission and more chances to gather with , grow with and bless our community.

šŸ“š Breakfast Book Club continues, nutrition, friendship and a safe space for children to enjoy stories and build confidence.

ā„ļø Summer Kid’s Club – Week Two begins, with more creativity, laughter and Narnia‑themed adventure as we welcome children through our doors once again.

šŸ™ A Prayer for August
Lord, we thank You for this new month.
Bless every child who comes to Breakfast Book Club and Summer Kid’s Club.
Strengthen our staff and volunteers with joy, patience and energy.

ā„ļøšŸ›”ļøSummer Kid’s Club-Day Three in Narnia!šŸ›”ļøā„ļø

What an incredible final day of Week One in Narnia! Today we finished the story together, stepping right into the heart of the adventure and then got hands‑on by making our own swords and shields as we learned about the Armour of God. The creativity, the conversations, the pride on the children’s faces… absolutely brilliant.

We also had a very special celebration. A birthday party!
A huge shout‑out to Charlotte, our amazing Divisional Children’s Worker from DHQ, for not only helping lead our holiday club this week, but also choosing to spend her birthday with us. We’re so grateful for her joy, energy and kindness.

With games, laughter, crafts, friendships and faith woven through every moment, Week One is complete… and what a week it’s been.

Week Two begins Monday, and we can’t wait as even more children will be stepping through the wardrobe into the wonders of Narnia.

Let the adventure continue. šŸ’™ā„ļøšŸ¦
