Loving God, we give you thanks that we can always turn to you in prayer and know that you love us and listen to us. Whether praying with the words of others, with words of our own, or simply being with you in silence, we know that you hear us.

Help us to come to you with our joys and thanksgiving. But help us too to bring our sorrows and concerns and the needs of our neighbours, for nothing is too large or too small to share with you. So may we make prayer a part of our lives. Amen.

Catherine James, local preacher, Derby Circuit

To God be the Glory, great things he has done!
What a wonderful weekend our dedicated stewards and volunteers have put on, I saw lots of very tired but very, very happy faces in church this morning, as we thanked God for all that we have . Thank you to the hundreds of visitors we have had to help us celebrate 50 years of the Methodist Church in Shildon. If you were able to visit, please leave a comment about your favourite display 😍

This , we share in this prayer from Revd Stephen Normanton, a Methodist minister and founder of the mental health support charity PeerTalk.

Thank you God for your assurance that your love for me is stronger than all the stress and anguish caused by:
not having enough time to get everything done;
not having the health and fitness to do the things I would like to do;
not having enough money to provide the family with all I want for them;
not being able to change situations that are out of my control.

For all the times when I feel weary, lonely and worthless
I thank you that your Spirit just gently lets me know your love for me is stronger... so much stronger.
Amen.
