St Andrew’s holiday club 2026
What was your favourite part?

We visited Egypt, Isreal, Turkey, Jordan and Iran. We heard how Jesus called on the disciples, how Moses parted the red sea, how John baptised Jesus and many more stories from the Bible.
We coloured, played games, prayed, made glitter sensory jars, created slime, met new people, made new friends, did bi-carb experiments, had breakfast together, ate lots of snacks, experienced mass, had some Egyptian and Turkish treats, made some flags, met and held some amazing creatures, went for a walk and play at the park, made some clay animals and everyone got to take their creations with some additional activities to complete at home (would love it if parents could share pictures of painted items or built lego set from their bags ☺️)
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, contributed, helped out, baked, purchased or collected items, cleaned up, served food, supervised, got hands on in the crafts, led the musical games, told the stories, managed the admin and played any part in making this happen.
Last but not least, thank you to all the children for being fun and amazing, kind and friendly, enthusiastic and curious. We have loved having everyone who was able to attend.

🌍 St Andrew’s Summer Holiday Club – Spaces Still Available! 🌍

We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone to our FREE Summer Holiday Club at St Andrew’s Church, Tudhoe Grange, from 20th–24th July (9am–12 noon).

We still have spaces available on most days, so if you’re looking for something fun, creative and welcoming for your child this summer, we’d love to have them join us!

✨ During the week children will enjoy:
🎨 Crafts and creative activities (including things they can take home)
🫙 Making calming glitter jars
🧪 Fun science experiments with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar
💚 (Possibly!) slime making
🫧 Bubble play
🎵 Music and games
📖 Bible stories exploring the Middle East
🖍 Colouring and creating
🥣 Breakfast and snacks each morning
🐍🕸️🦎🐭 A visit from crazy creatures
🎨(possibly) Face Painting
😊 Plenty of opportunities to make friends and have fun!

Our holiday club is aimed at KS2 children (ages 7–11), although a little flexibility around age may be possible depending on the individual child. If you’re unsure, just get in touch.

All of our volunteers are DBS checked and have completed safeguarding training, so children can enjoy a safe and supportive environment while parents have a few hours to themselves or at work.

❤️ This holiday club is completely free of charge. It is only possible thanks to the generous funding and support of Churches Together in Durham (CTD), the Deanery, individual donations, and St Andrew’s Parish. We’re incredibly grateful for their generosity.

The holiday club is open to all families living in the Spennymoor area and is not means tested.

We had the Sunday kids activities and learning today. We read the story of ascension which takes place Thursday coming.
We then used play-doh to show the facial expressions we think those around Jesus might have had at the time.

What expressions can you see and what do you think the disciples were feeling as Jesus ascended to heaven after instructing them to spread the gospel, baptize new believers, and teach his commands to all nations, promising to be with them always?

What a lovely session we had on Thursday for our first day back ☺️ thank you for everyone that came.

Back again this Thursday 9:15am-11:00am I think it will be a home corner, dinosaur and soft play kind of day 🤔💜 we also have cake, biscuits, tea, coffee, fruit and song time 😁
