A little planning today can bring peace of mind for you, and clarity and comfort for those you love.

It means your loved ones won’t have to make big, difficult decisions in the fog of grief and can be reassured that your wishes are being honoured.

There’s a quiet kind of empowerment in choosing your own goodbye.

At Tithe Green, planning ahead means securing a plot in our growing woodland or wildflower meadow. It’s yours forever, with no repeat maintenance or lease fees for family to worry about.

For more information, go to tithegreen.com/plan-ahead and download our brochure.

Meet the team - Emma đź’š

What is your role at Tithe Green?

“I am the site manager for our natural burial ground in Ketton, near Rutland.”

What does an average day entail?

“The site is around 40 acres so there’s a lot to maintain! Whilst our philosophy is letting nature grow uninterrupted, it is important to me that our site is well cared for. That might mean checking on memorial trees and plaques, maintaining flat pathways, keeping the car park clear, and a host of other jobs! I also meet families to show them round the site, as well as being there for support during services.”

What is your favourite part about the job?

“Getting to know the people who visit regularly. I often bump into people as I’m working around the site and over time have gotten to know them quite well. I always enjoy stopping for a chat, and our monthly Memory Mile walks are another opportunity to do this - but with a cup of tea! There are some real friendships between people here and it’s lovely to witness.”

Flower of the month: the cornflower. 🌱

The cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) was once considered a w**d and very nearly wiped out by intensive agricultural practices.

Today, it’s recognised as a beautiful wildflower, which usually blooms from June-August. When you look closely, they are actually several smaller flowers clustered around a centre.

Interesting fact: cornflowers are said to have been found in Tutankhamun’s tomb and, despite being interred over 3000 years ago, had lost very little of their colour.

Meet the team - James (and Wilma). đź’š

What is your role at Tithe Green?

“I am co-owner of Tithe Green, which was founded by my late grandmother. I oversee the careful stewardship of our existing burial grounds and look for potential new ones.”

What does an average day entail?

“There’s no such thing as an average day at Tithe Green! Aside from emails and phone calls, I spend a lot of time driving up and down the country looking at beautiful potential new sites. We’re currently working hard to bring the option of natural burial to as many people as we can, which takes a lot of planning to make sure everything is up to standard.”

What is your favourite part of the job?

“The team, honestly. We’re very close. We celebrate our successes together and work through mistakes together - we are a family in all the best ways.”

For many, pets are family and the amount of healing and comfort they bring can’t be overstated. 💚

Meet the team - Ellie. đź’š

What is your role within Tithe Green?

"As an admin assistant I manage enquiries, process paperwork, and make sure the office runs smoothly - usually with a cup of tea in hand!"

What does an average day entail?

"An average day involves spending a lot of time on the phone speaking to families - explaining our services and answering any questions. I liaise with funeral directors, grave diggers and site managers to make sure that everything goes well on the day for families. But truly no two days are the same and I’ll always help where required."

What is your favourite part of the job?

"The people - the families that we meet and talk to. It is a privilege to help people during one of the most difficult times in their lives, and I love hearing their stories and happy memories."
