While others are enjoying Burghley, Helena and Annich, are busy preparing potato and leek soup, chicken and duck stir-fry, pasta bake, and apple and gooseberry crumble -something for everyone to enjoy!

Come and cook with us! Our Cooking with Confidence course is a lovely, relaxed space to learn tasty, budget‑friendly skills and enjoy making meals together with a really welcoming community 💛🍳

Would you like to learn the basics of cookery?

Food prep, knife skills, food hygiene, and delicious meal ideas that you can cook at home?

Little waste, low cost, and nutritious food, that you can then enjoy socially as a group.

Make sure you sign up for Cooking with Confidence!

This is a practical, fun and friendly course that will take you through the basics and end up with you feeling confident about cooking a range of meals.

One evening a week for six weeks that will help you meal plan and feed you and your family on a budget.

We are delighted to partner with Second Helpings - Stamford who are helping provide some of the ingredients, and the course is led by a qualified nutritionist so you can make healthy meals that taste wonderful!

The cost is £25, which is only £4.20 per session. This covers the cost of the food and running the course.

It starts on Tuesday 8th September.

🍲 Join us for lunch today! 🍲

Come along to Stamford’s Barn Hill Methodist Church for this week’s Second Helpings community lunch! ❤️🍲

Our wonderful cooks, Julie and Richard, are preparing a comforting menu of vegetable soup, roast beef, veggie chilli, and a delicious banana sponge — something for everyone to enjoy! 🥕🥩🌶️🍌

We’re also delighted to be welcoming an extra 37 guests this week, cyclists taking part in the Queen Eleanor Bike Ride, a challenging 219-mile charity ride to St Martin-in-the-Fields! 🚴‍♀️ We’re looking forward to giving them a warm welcome and a well-earned, hearty lunch along the way.

Where has August gone?

It's been another busy month full of food collections, sorting, cleaning, meeting, greeting and helping where we can.

No two days at Second Helpings are ever the same!

Some days we have loads of fruit.

Other days you can't move because we've got loads of loaves of bread.

Sometimes it's enough to fill the shelves...
..and sometimes it's gone almost as quickly as we put it out.

Because the cost of living has made times hard for lots of people. And we're happy to help wherever we can.

People often ask why food comes to us.

Maybe there's too much.

Maybe the packaging has changed.

Maybe it's close to its best-before date.

Whatever the reason, the food we get back out into the community has absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Which is why we'd much rather see it on someone's table than in a bin.
