From our friends at Peterborough City Praise:

Prayers reach out for all impacted in last nights stabbings on the train from Peterborough to Huntingdon. Here is a short prayer:

Lord we ask for Your caring and healing touch over all the victims from last nights stabbings. May all impacted know Your peace and love and be supported both physically and mentally as needed. We ask this in Your name.
Amen.

Hurricane Melissa appeal

All We Can is responding to Hurricane Melissa in partnership with the Methodist Church in Britain.

We are working closely with our regional partner, the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas (MCCA), to ensure that funds raised are directed to where they are most needed. MCCA is working on co-ordinating emergency relief efforts across affected communities in the region.

Our partner, MCCA, intend to purchase bulk goods such as food and shelter materials to help those most acutely affected by the hurricane.

We need you to give today to help our partners undertake their life-saving work.

At 7pm on Saturday 4th October, the Gresley Male Voice Choir will be performing at Stamford Methodist Church.

Please come along and support the choir and all proceeds go to support the Church's Mission Projects which this year are the Nixon Memorial Hospital in Sierra Leone and 2nd Stamford Scouts

"Based in South Derbyshire, England, the Choir takes its name from the "Gresley Primitive Methodist Church", where the choir was born with 13 singers on the "Men's Sunday" in 1904. The choir has over 40 members and fulfils on average 22 engagements a year.
"We sing the best of modern and traditional music. We are a friendly bunch of gents and are always keen to recruit new members. We firmly believe that singing has enhanced our lives by improving mental and physical wellbeing. We have two choristers in their 90s and one member has been with the choir for 65 years"

In light of recent tensions across parts of the UK, particularly where individuals have been targeted based on their background, the Methodist Church is releasing a new recording of the hymn Let us build a house where love can dwell (StF 409).

As part of this, we’re creating a music video to share online and inspire communities to come together in love and solidarity. We’re inviting churches to take part by filming a short clip of their congregation simply saying: “All are welcome.” These clips will be woven into the final video to reflect the rich diversity and unity of our Church.

If your church can record this phrase in different languages, we’d love to showcase the breadth of voices across our Connexion.

Please upload your video at methodistchurch.wetransfer.com/ as soon as you’re able. Let’s stand together and share a message of welcome, hope and peace.
