Ephesians 6:10-11

The Whole Armor of God

[10] Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. [11] Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

Ephesians 3:20-21

[20] [i]Now to [j]him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, [k]according to the power at work within us, [21] [l]to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

*7️⃣PUT ON THE FULL ARMOUR OF GOD*

```“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil...” (Read Ephesians 6:10-17)```
There is a necessity to put on the full armor of God. We need to spiritually be clothed with these armaments as taught by Apostle Paul if we are to win life battles.
*The belt of Truth is the believer's Integrity.* The belt was to protect one's loins and to hold his weapons of warfare and tunic together. In Christian armor, it is integrity that holds everything else together. Practice integrity.
*The breastplate of righteousness is the believer's purity.* It was to cover the soldier's vital organs. For the Christian, this breastplate is righteous standing with God. Satan wants to get into your heart and mind. He's looking for a crack in your armor. Keep your heart pure and intact.
*The shoes of peace is the believer's tranquility (emotional state of peace and quietness).* A soldier needed solid footing from which to move. Unless you have a solid footing of peace, you can never win a battle. You will need peace at all times.
*The shield of faith is the believer's certainty.* In those days, soldiers dipped arrows in oil, then lit and shot them at the enemy. These shields were vital to protect the soldier from getting shot and burned. Satan is going to fire flaming arrows of doubt and fear at you. You will need to feed your faith and starve your doubts and fears.
*The helmet of salvation is the believer's sanity.* A soldier used a helmet to protect his head because if his head was wounded, he wouldn't be able to think. Every believer needs to have the mind of Christ and move under the control of His will. You need to have an assurance of salvation otherwise you won't win battles.
*The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God.* When we are tempted, the most effective weapon that God has given to us as believers is the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Jesus modeled this so beautifully during His temptation in the wilderness. Memorize scripture and use the Word of God to defeat Satan's lies and attacks.
Brethren let us practice putting on the armor of God now and always.
*REBUILDING HOPE*
Renewing our Christian hope will take us back to our default settings. It will take us back to our right beliefs and attitudes (back to being orthodoxy). This is anything from putting God first, seeking His kingdom, focusing on love, grace, and eternal life, and operating from a foundation of God's unfailing love and faithfulness, rather than self centeredness.
Restoring hope will also bring the inner compass for life decisions back to fulfilling God's purpose. Living in true hope will serve as an automatic lens, guiding actions towards spiritual growth, serving others, and aligning with biblical values like joy, peace, and kindness.
Are you interested in living a life of purpose fulfilled in Christ? Consider following keenly the concepts taught since we started Daniel Fast and act upon them (follow them in obedience).
When faced with choices, true hope will guide you to seek God's will, love your neighbor, and act with compassion, forgiveness, and integrity. It will also provide an anchor, allowing you to return to faith-based responses instead of falling back on worldly or selfish instincts.
```“So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. [19] This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.” (Hebrews 6:18-19)```

*6️⃣HEALING YOUR PAST HURTS*

```“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:18-19)```
There is so much power in forgiveness, so much healing in reconciliation. Without healing and forgiveness, other people’s mistakes will affect our future. Without the inner working of the Holy Spirit, we will live in continual suffering from the sins of others.
Each day of our life is a gift from God that He wants us to live fully. Stop being stuck in a frustrating cycle of pain that leaves you feeling hopeless. Hopelessness will deny you access to the throne of grace.
Transform your pain instead of transferring it. If you don’t find ways to learn from your past pain, you’ll likely be doomed to repeat the mistakes you made in the past.
You need to forgive those who in your past memories you can recall with pain. Forgive yourself too of any failure and wrong choices that expose you to pain.
So ask God to break the hold that your past has over you and show you what useful lessons you can learn from it so you can begin moving forward. Realize that it’s pointless to dwell on your regrets, since you can’t go back and change your past – all you can do is keep moving forward.
Turn to the ultimate Healer, Jesus Christ, to help you cure. Jesus specializes in taking what’s broken and restoring it to how it is designed to be.
*REBUILDING HOPE*
Christian hope (the joyous expectation) is able to restore. Restoration is a core theme centered on God's promise to renew people and creation, offering healing from sin, brokenness, and loss, both now and eternally through Jesus Christ.
It inspires believers to find hope, strength and actively participate in bringing God's goodness to the world. It's a journey founded on the biblical truth that assures a believer of God's ability to make all things new, turning sorrow into joy and broken situations into sources of hope.
Through hope, God restores lost joy, peace, and wholeness, helping people overcome sin, guilt, and past hurts through faith in Jesus.
This joyous expectation can also lead to reconciliation. It's about esteeming the greater joy set for us and which diminishes pain and suffering, restoring broken relationships with God and others. This hope is fanned when believers encourage those going through physical or emotional pain to gently be restored from sin and bad choices.
David was this hopeful as he sung this Psalm: ```Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. [11] Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. [12] Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. (Psalms 51:10-12)```
One day you will understand fully
‘Now I know only a part, but then I will know fully, as God has known me.’
1 Corinthians 13:12 NCV
When Corrie ten Boom travelled the world sharing her experiences, she would often speak with her head down. She appeared to be reading notes, but she was actually stitching a needlepoint design. When she would finish telling her story of the atrocities she suffered from the N***s, she would reveal the needlepoint she had been working on. She would first show the back side, which was just a tangle of coloured threads with no distinct pattern. And she would say, ‘That’s how we see our lives. Sometimes it makes no sense.’ Then she would flip the needlepoint over to unveil the finished side. And she would say, ‘This is how God views your life, and someday we will have the privilege of seeing it from His point of view.’
Then she would end her talk with this poem written by Grant Colfax Tullar, a minister: ‘My life is but a weaving between my Lord and me; I cannot choose the colours, He worketh steadily. Oft times He weaveth sorrow and I, in foolish pride, forget He sees the upper, and I the underside. Not til the loom is silent and the shuttles cease to fly, will God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why. The dark threads are as needful in the Weaver’s skilful hand, as the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.’
Paul writes, ‘Now we see a dim reflection, as if we were looking into a mirror, but then we shall see clearly. Now I know only a part, but then I will know fully, as God has known me.’ (UCB)
***4️⃣PHYSICAL CLEANLINESS*
```“Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water” (Hebrews 10:22).```

Holiness and physical cleanliness are closely linked in the Bible. A true Christian should therefore strive to keep his heart, body, and environment clean and tidy, as much as circumstances permit.

Hygiene has a vital role in our health. While it promotes spiritual health, it also improves our physical health. Cleanliness is a sign we take care of ourselves, and it aids to improve our health

Cleanliness fosters a sense of beauty. When you come home after a tiresome day, it refreshes one's spirit to find a clean neat house. It is also true about the human body. We can only make our inner beauty shine through when we take care of our hygiene

God gave Adam the responsibility to care for His creation - to keep it neat and tidy. (Genesis 2:15). We must keep not only our body but our environment - home, compound, garden, office, work place, church, etc clean.

Some of us take care of the cleanliness of only the exposed places, but forget it's not about what others see, its about you and how you honour God in maintaining a state that glorifies Him. Never clean to fulfil an obligation, but do so to remove dirt and impurity that doesn't represent Godliness.

Physical cleanliness would also preclude the use of to***co in any form, drunkenness, and any form of drug abuse, which befoul and damage the body which is the image of God and His temple.

Physical cleanliness can attract people near you. It creates an opportunity to reveal the love of God. Be clean.

Where have you failed in maintaining cleanliness as instructed by God. God is Holy (clean) and demands that we too approach Him in cleanliness.

*REBUILDING HOPE*

Hope is looking forward with joy and excitement. For our forward view of the future to be clear, we need to do the following:

First, make sure your view of the future is clear without obstructions. If the spiritual windscreen is tainted with sin, the future view is obstructed. One can't see clearly nor can he make wise decisions towards that future. Fasting clears such obstructions to our view of a victorious future.

Secondly, forward progress is very much dependent on our experiences of the past. The stories that form our faith convictions must be true and correct. We compare the forward view with the past through the driver's side mirrors. It therefore must be of the correct glass so as to give the accurate movement, proper distance and true size of the objects behind. Our faith must be the product of true events of the past. We need to consume true Christian teachings. Also one must beware of blind spots. The same with faith. We all have blind spots that we need to deal with. Fasting helps in identifying lies and dealing with life blind spots.

Finally the driver's state must be adaptable to suit the safety of the vehicle and the passengers. The driver needs to be disciplined in order to make the right choices about his safety, concentration and avoiding distractions. Our Hope must change us into making the right choices. Fasting will help us to be grounded well in the faith.

```“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, [12] instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner in the present age, [13] looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus” (Titus 2:11-13)
**3️⃣MENTAL CLEANLINESS*
```“So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. [7] For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. [8] That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.” (Romans 8:6-8)```

If you desire never to offend God and people, then you must guard your mind. The outcome of your life is the product of what goes on in your mind. The secret feelings of one’s mind should not be a deposit of unclean thoughts.

Jesus warned against unclean thinking when He said: _“Everyone that keeps on looking at a woman so as to have a passion for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28; Mark 7:20-23)._ Much of what we think about is directly connected to what we are feeding into our mind. If you put po*******hy into your mind that is what you will end up thinking about. The rule is called - "garbage in, garbage out."

If sinful act movies are what entertains you, then your mind will be prone to sin. We need to guard the mind and not feed it with garbage. This rule includes the people we associate with, the social media we consume, what we watch on TV, what we read, and the music we listen to and so on. Renew the mind by choosing what to interact with. Choose what to see, what to hear and keep a discipline of feeding your mind with only that which is pure in God's eyes.

Avoid defiling yourselves by entertaining unclean thoughts that could give rise to unclean, unholy speech and actions. Stop being entertained by sin.

You can choose; to constantly feed your mind with the Word of God, good Christian music, to limit media to only Godly channels, your friends to be those you share the same path of faith, and so forth.

What are some lifestyles and habits that defile your mind? What actions do you need to take in dealing with them? Seek God's forgiveness and wisdom to live a Godly life.

*REBUILDING HOPE*

Like we have seen, HOPE is the joyous expectation for the future, based on true events of the past, which changes everything about my present. This excitement about future events is based on true events of the past. How sure are we that the events recorded in the Bible are true and reliable?

Luke helps us to understand the certainty of the Gospel. Why the certainty? If we don't have that certainty, then we can't enjoy solid HOPE. Our future will have doubt and despair.

```“Since many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, [2] just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, [3] it seemed fitting to me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in an orderly sequence, most excellent Theophilus; [4] so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught.” (Luke 1:1-4)```
To be sure about the authenticity of Luke's account, we need to investigate how Luke researched these events. Luke was like a modern day journalist or historian.
He spoke with eye witnesses, carefully investigated everything and he aimed to write an orderly account - clear content and in an orderly way.
Christianity is not about feeling or a blind faith in defiance of the data. It starts with information that we are called to trust in. These true events of the past are the bases of Christian HOPE.
*2️⃣MORAL CLEANLINESS*
```“But sexual immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is proper among saints; [4] and there must be no filthiness or foolish talk, or vulgar joking, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. [5] For this you know with certainty, that no sexually immoral or impure or greedy person, which amounts to an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.” (Ephesians 5:3-5)```

A spirit of complacency has invaded our Christian circles. The more reason we need a soul searching for our moral conduct. We are in a time when there is no great fear of sin. We have diluted sin to make us feel less guilty. However we wish to label sin, it is moral corruption.

God draws a clear line between what is clean and what is unclean, Period. Whether Fornication, adultery, stealing, lying, backbiting, taking bribes, drunkenness, all these are sins. Moral cleanliness has to do with our conduct.

Jesus taught that ```“Do you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated? [18] But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and those things defile the person. [19] For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, acts of adultery, other immoral sexual acts, thefts, false testimonies, and slanderous statements. [20] These are the things that defile the person; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the person.” (Matthew 15:17-20).``` Christians should therefore be on guard against what goes into the heart.

We must also not become a stumbling block to other Christians. Wearing revealing clothes in public for example has the potential to create unclean thoughts in others. Do a soul searching on any immoral act that either defiles you or is a stumbling block to others. Repent these sins and seek God's wisdom on how you can lead a holy life. life.
➖➖2️⃣➖➖

*REBUILDING HOPE*

Hope is the joyous expectation for the future, based on true events of the past, which changes everything about my present. When we have an exciting activity ahead, we enthusiastically are full of energies. Christian hope should do much more as we anticipate greater life in eternity and in the immediate future, the Hand of God being upon us to guide and bring help in every situation.

Christian hope must bring a change in our lives. Having hope does an overhaul in every aspect of our being. That change makes us more valuable for God's Kingdom. Remember HOPE is Obedience that relies on God for strength and expects God to deliver.

```“Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen. [2] For by it the people of old gained approval.” (Hebrews 11:1-2)```
*1️⃣SPIRITUAL CLEANLINESS*
```“Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1).```

Welcome to Daniel Fast 2026. Every day, we shall be sharing a devotion that is a guide to the day's prayer emphasis. Take time to read the day's devotion. Also take time during your meditations to think through it until you are convinced to understand well the theme. Then pray over it.

Cleanliness that includes improving our environment promotes a positive mindset and sense of responsibility. When we clean something, we bring out its inner beauty. Cleanliness is taking care of yourself and everything that supports you. Whether spiritual, moral, mental or physical they all work together to promote your health and wellbeing.

You stress yourself when you dwell in some confusion of filthiness. Cleaning promotes your spiritual health and helps you fight against anxiety or stress. God is Holy and requires we seek Him with a clean heart (1 Peter 1:6).

Spiritual cleanliness could be considered the most important cleanness of all because it has to do with a person's view and relationship with God. Spiritual cleanliness has to do with our obedience to the first 4 commandments (Exodus 20:1-11).

*1. Do not have any other god before God.*
*2. Do not make yourself an idol.*
*3. Do not take the Lord's Name in vain.*
*4. Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy.*

However, this is often the most neglected aspect of cleanness. Simply put, to be spiritually clean means never to cross the line that God has drawn between true worship and false, for God views any type of false worship as unclean.

God clearly demonstrated His disapproval of mixing false worship with His true worship. The view you have about God will enable you to honour Him.

Do you have an object, person, program that you give more of your energy and attention than God? Whatever competes with your devotion to God is idolatry. If there is a person, friend, career, social gathering, TV program etc. that takes the time and attention away from God, then that is idolatry and is a great sin.

Do you mention God's Name in vain? There are people who have allowed this heathen culture of dishonoring God to eat them up. When you play with God's Name (e.g. OMG...!), you make Him common and there is no longer power left in you to save, heal, deliver, bless etc.

*Jesus never referred to God in any other Name but Father, LORD, and God.* In the Lord’s Prayer Jesus taught us to say: Hallowed be thy Name, or may Thy Name be treated with great honor and respect.

Do you honour God by setting aside His holy day (Sunday for most Christians)? The Bible teaches that we should honour the Sabbath and keep it holy. The Lord's Day is not a day to do our own pleasure but God's. Do you use the day for your social welfare meetings? Is it the day to hang out doing barbeque with friends? Do you do any other work on God's day other than rest, worship and sharing the love of God? Do you set aside time to rest and focus on the things of God?

If you are guilty of any or all these commands, take time today to repent. Ask God to show you how you should obey Him. Write this down in your prayer journal or notebook.
➖➖1️⃣➖➖

*REBUILDING HOPE*

Hope is Obedience that relies on God for strength and expects God to deliver. Hope involves knowing the Word and following it (obeying the Word). That is what faith is all about.

```“Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. [14] As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, [15] but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; [16] because it is written: “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:13-16)```
