*1️⃣SPIRITUAL CLEANLINESS*
```“Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1).```
Welcome to Daniel Fast 2026. Every day, we shall be sharing a devotion that is a guide to the day's prayer emphasis. Take time to read the day's devotion. Also take time during your meditations to think through it until you are convinced to understand well the theme. Then pray over it.
Cleanliness that includes improving our environment promotes a positive mindset and sense of responsibility. When we clean something, we bring out its inner beauty. Cleanliness is taking care of yourself and everything that supports you. Whether spiritual, moral, mental or physical they all work together to promote your health and wellbeing.
You stress yourself when you dwell in some confusion of filthiness. Cleaning promotes your spiritual health and helps you fight against anxiety or stress. God is Holy and requires we seek Him with a clean heart (1 Peter 1:6).
Spiritual cleanliness could be considered the most important cleanness of all because it has to do with a person's view and relationship with God. Spiritual cleanliness has to do with our obedience to the first 4 commandments (Exodus 20:1-11).
*1. Do not have any other god before God.*
*2. Do not make yourself an idol.*
*3. Do not take the Lord's Name in vain.*
*4. Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy.*
However, this is often the most neglected aspect of cleanness. Simply put, to be spiritually clean means never to cross the line that God has drawn between true worship and false, for God views any type of false worship as unclean.
God clearly demonstrated His disapproval of mixing false worship with His true worship. The view you have about God will enable you to honour Him.
Do you have an object, person, program that you give more of your energy and attention than God? Whatever competes with your devotion to God is idolatry. If there is a person, friend, career, social gathering, TV program etc. that takes the time and attention away from God, then that is idolatry and is a great sin.
Do you mention God's Name in vain? There are people who have allowed this heathen culture of dishonoring God to eat them up. When you play with God's Name (e.g. OMG...!), you make Him common and there is no longer power left in you to save, heal, deliver, bless etc.
*Jesus never referred to God in any other Name but Father, LORD, and God.* In the Lord’s Prayer Jesus taught us to say: Hallowed be thy Name, or may Thy Name be treated with great honor and respect.
Do you honour God by setting aside His holy day (Sunday for most Christians)? The Bible teaches that we should honour the Sabbath and keep it holy. The Lord's Day is not a day to do our own pleasure but God's. Do you use the day for your social welfare meetings? Is it the day to hang out doing barbeque with friends? Do you do any other work on God's day other than rest, worship and sharing the love of God? Do you set aside time to rest and focus on the things of God?
If you are guilty of any or all these commands, take time today to repent. Ask God to show you how you should obey Him. Write this down in your prayer journal or notebook.
*REBUILDING HOPE*
Hope is Obedience that relies on God for strength and expects God to deliver. Hope involves knowing the Word and following it (obeying the Word). That is what faith is all about.
```“Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. [14] As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, [15] but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; [16] because it is written: “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:13-16)```
