Luke 1:38 (NIV)

Mary reeponded, I am the Lord’s servant… May your word to me be fulfilled.

Mary’s yes changed history.
She chose surrender over control,
trust over understanding,
obedience over fear.
God doesn’t look for perfect conditions, He looks for willing hearts.

Practical steps:
1. Surrender daily. Start each day by consciously offering your plans to God.

2. Trust before clarity, obey what God has already shown you, even if the outcome is unclear.

3. Act on faith. Take one small, obedient step instead of waiting to feel “ready.”

4. Speak agreement. Declare God’s promises over your life instead of your fears.

When we say yes to God, His word moves from promise to fulfillment.

Psalm 134:1 says:

"Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord who minister by night in the house of the Lord." (NIV)

This verse is a call to worship and praise God, specifically addressing the servants of the Lord—those who serve in the temple or the sanctuary. These servants are not just the priests, but anyone involved in the sacred work of God. Here, the "night" part is significant because it emphasises their continuous dedication and faithfulness, even during the late hours or times when most people are resting. It highlights the idea that worship is not confined to a specific time of day or season, but should be constant and unwavering, regardless of external circumstances.

In the broader context of Psalm 134, this is the final psalm in a set of "Songs of Ascents," which were likely sung by Israelites as they made pilgrimages to Jerusalem for religious festivals. It's both a declaration of praise and a reminder of the ongoing worship and service within the temple. The call for praise at night may also symbolize the idea of maintaining worship and dedication even when it feels like the world around you is in rest or slumber.

This verse reminds us that our service to God should be steadfast, no matter the time or the situation, and that God is worthy of praise at all times.

Song -
Come bless the Lord
All yea servants of the Lord
Who stand by night, in the house of the Lord
Lift up your hands, in the holy place
Come bless the Lord, Come bless the Lord.

From Donkey Seeker to Anointed King

Saul, a young man from the tribe of Benjamin, is sent to find his father’s lost donkeys. After searching without success, he meets the prophet Samuel, who tells him that God has chosen him to be the king of Israel. Samuel anoints Saul with oil, confirming God’s call on his life. Saul is given signs to confirm this calling, and he is later publicly declared king. Though some people doubt his ability, Saul is empowered by God’s Spirit to lead.

“Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on Saul’s head and kissed him, saying, ‘Has not the Lord anointed you ruler over his inheritance?’” (1 Samuel 10:1, NIV)

This shows that God can call us in unexpected ways, even in ordinary situations. Like Saul, we may feel unprepared, but God equips those He calls through His strength and Spirit.
