Saint Laurence's Church, Slough

Saint Laurence's Church, Slough One of three churches in the modern parish of Upton-cum-Chalvey, Saint Laurence's Church is the oldest building in Slough.

The church also holds the grave of Sir William Herschel who discovered Uranus. Saint Laurence's is a warm and friendly church. We meet on Sundays for worship, and come together for weekday activities, or meet socially over a cup of coffee or at our church lunches. We seek to be a community that shares both in worship as well as in fellowship. Together with our clergy, we all share responsibility f

or our ancient church and its outreach. Members can take part in the leadership of our church on different levels :

* Our District Church Council is the main decision-making body of the church, and meets monthly. Its representatives are elected annually.

* Our Worship Planning Group meets monthly to plan our services. Our historic church is in need of development. As a church family we need to raise money towards the extension of our meeting room and vestry. We also seek to support the church in other parts of the world, for instance by organising a quiz evening to raise money for Christian Aid, or other social events.
