Hartlepool members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community have just returned from a wonderful, successful UK Jalsa Salana (Annual Gathering) where over 51,000 people attended from all over the world.
This was the 60th UK Jalsa Salana and it was three days of peace and harmony. The Jalsa began after the Friday Sermon, when our Khalifa (Spiritual Leader,) Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Community raised the Union Jack and the Ahmadiyya Flag, which were part of over 100 flags around the world, representing all the countries of the world where we have communities. The Khalifa, then addressed everyone which was also broadcasted throughout the world on our TV station MTA Internation (Sky 731).
On Saturday, there was an opportunity to visit the many exhibitions and bookshop in the vast fields. Our Khalifa, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, addressed the ladies and then came to the men’s side and addressed the men.
On Sunday, there was the unique International Bai’at Ceremony, when everyone joined together to renew their pledge of allegiance with our spiritual leader. This was repeated in many different languages. A number of parliamentarians, civic leaders and diplomats from different countries also address the gathering and underline the convention’s objective of enhancing unity, understanding and mutual respect. A message from our King Charles III was read out and then our Khalifa gave his final address. With all his addresses, he provided invaluable insight into religious teachings and how they are a source of guidance for the world today.
