A group of 50 believers gather under a tree in Kenya, a tree that has marked their “church” for 6 years. Here’s the story…
Despite the predominate Muslim population that surrounds them, this group of Jesus followers is committed to meeting, even though the Kenyan missionary who started the church has received tremendous opposition. He has been called a fool, accused of leading others astray with the gospel and marked for death. In the face of persecution, the missionary continued shining Christ in his community. He prayed over a woman who suffered from a prolonged illness that caused her to seek help from local magicians and Islamic sheikhs, spending much of what she had to find a cure. Nothing worked until the missionary prayed for her. After her healing, the church began to grow in the front yard of the missionary’s first convert. Now the church members are longing for a roof over their heads as they meet for worship.
Lord Jesus, our shelter in the storm, we come to You in praise for the power and protection You have given the missionary to stand strong in Your Name! We thank You for healing the woman who was suffering greatly, which was a huge testimony to Your power and authority. We come to You asking that You would provide again for this Christian community, giving them a church building of some kind where they can take shelter. You know if this will bless them or if it will be a hindrance to Your work, so we leave this request before Your throne knowing You have heard us and will answer with great wisdom and care. In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
