“I’m proud of you – for the things you’re learning…for the many ways you’re growing.” But Mister Rogers didn’t stop there. It wasn’t enough to tell us that a grownup was proud of us. Mister Rogers took it deeper. He made sure to add “and I hope that you are proud of you, too.” It’s much more important that the good feeling of pride belongs to us – and we earned it.

Mister Rogers gave us these universal and timeless messages, and they continue to resonate with us today. As we deal with the tasks we struggle with, even as adults, we can remember those words and those songs, knowing that we are loved and valued – just because of who we are. How good it is to know that even on our darkest days that we have value.

God's mercy gives us opportunities to change, but we must also be willing to take responsibility for our choices. We cannot keep asking God to deliver us from the same patterns while refusing to change the decisions that keep leading us back to them.

Sometimes, the breakthrough begins when we stop making excuses, recognize what needs to change, and choose obedience over temporary comfort. God's grace is always available, but we must be willing to repent, learn, and take a different path.

You cannot build a new life while repeatedly returning to what keeps breaking you. Let God transform your heart, give you the courage to walk away from unhealthy patterns, and help you choose what honors Him—even when it's difficult. 🙏🏻

“As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.” — Proverbs 26:11 (KJV) 🤍

Pray for deliverance, but also be willing to make different choices. Ask God for strength, follow His wisdom, and stop returning to what He is teaching you to leave behind. Your past does not have to dictate your future. 🙏🏻

SPIRITUAL HYGIENE TIPS THAT SAVED ME… A THREAD

1\. Stop telling everyone your plans. Some things need privacy, prayer, and time to grow before they need an audience.

2\. Protect your first 30 minutes of the morning. No scrolling, no comparison, no chaos. Give your mind peace before the world gets access to it.

3\. Clean your space when your mind feels heavy. Sometimes opening the windows, changing your sheets, and clearing clutter can help you feel lighter.

4\. Stop entertaining every negative thought. Not every thought deserves your attention, and not every fear is a prediction.

5\. Pray before you panic. Before reacting to the worst-case scenario, pause, breathe, and reconnect with what grounds you.

6\. Learn to sit in silence. You don't always need music, notifications, conversations, or background noise. Sometimes your soul needs room to breathe.

7\. Stop chasing closure from people who hurt you. Sometimes closure is accepting what happened and deciding you won't keep reopening the wound.

8\. Pay attention to how you feel after spending time with people. Notice who leaves you feeling peaceful, supported, and understood versus constantly drained and anxious.

9\. Practice gratitude before asking for more. You can desire a bigger life while appreciating the life you're building right now.

10\. Stop consuming content that feeds your insecurity. Your mind is constantly absorbing something. Be intentional about what you allow to shape your beliefs.

11\. Forgive yourself for surviving the way you knew how. You can acknowledge your mistakes without punishing yourself forever for who you used to be.

12\. Keep your promises to yourself. Every time you follow through on a small commitment, you strengthen your trust in yourself.

13\. Stop explaining your boundaries to people committed to misunderstanding them. You can be kind without making yourself endlessly available.

14\. Spend time in nature without needing to document it. Watch the sky, feel the sunlight, listen to the birds, and remember that life exists beyond your screen.

15\. Release the need to control every outcome. Do your part, make wise decisions, and allow life to unfold without demanding every answer immediately.

16\. Clean up your digital environment. Unfollow accounts that trigger comparison, mute unnecessary drama, and stop giving strangers unlimited access to your peace.

17\. Stop confusing anxiety with intuition. Fear often demands immediate action; grounded intuition can be examined calmly. Give yourself time before making major decisions.

18\. Have a nightly release ritual. Write down what hurt, what you learned, and what you're choosing not to carry into tomorrow.

19\. Don't gossip just to feel connected. Build relationships around growth, laughter, honesty, and meaningful conversations instead of tearing other people down.

20\. Learn to enjoy your own company. Take yourself on walks, eat without scrolling, journal your thoughts, and discover who you are when nobody else is around.

21\. Stop forcing relationships that require you to abandon yourself. Love should leave room for your dignity, individuality, and emotional safety.

22\. Make peace with being misunderstood. You don't need every person to agree with your choices for those choices to be right for you.

23\. Read something that nourishes your inner world every day. Scripture, philosophy, poetry, or a thoughtful book can give your mind something deeper than endless scrolling.

24\. Practice doing good without announcing it. Help someone, give privately, or show kindness when there is nothing to gain from it.

25\. Remember that rest is not something you must earn. You are allowed to pause before you reach exhaustion. Your worth is not measured by your productivity.

26\. Stop revisiting places, conversations, and memories just to hurt yourself again. You can honor your past without living inside it.

27\. Be mindful of the words you speak over yourself. Replace “I always ruin everything” with “I'm learning to make better choices.” Speak to yourself with honesty and compassion.

28\. Create distance from constant chaos. You don't have to answer every message immediately, attend every gathering, or participate in every argument.

29\. Let yourself grieve what didn't happen. The relationship, the opportunity, the version of life you imagined. Healing sometimes means mourning the future you thought you would have.

30\. End every day by asking yourself three questions: What am I grateful for? What do I need to release? What can I do differently tomorrow?

The biggest lesson?

Spiritual hygiene isn't about becoming perfect, avoiding every negative person, or pretending life never hurts.

It's about regularly clearing the emotional, mental, and spiritual clutter that keeps you disconnected from yourself.

Protect your peace. Be honest with yourself. Choose what nourishes you.

And remember: you don't have to carry yesterday's heaviness into every new day.

New research highlights five areas of daily living that have a proven impact on our mental well-being. Regularly practising even one of these each week can help reduce anxiety and depression, build resilience, and improve overall well-being. Small steps really can make a big difference!

"By placing human dignity, personal well-being, and meaningful relationships at the centre of healthcare, palliative care helps build communities marked by hope, solidarity, and genuine care for one another. Please join me in praying for all those touched by palliative care—recipients, families, friends, medical personnel, Christian communities and those who shape law and policy—that we may together be witnesses to Christ’s redeeming love, life-giving care, and limitless compassion (cf. Mt 25:36)."

Some seasons leave you with every reason to close your heart.

You prayed. You waited. You walked through things you still don’t have words for.

And yet, here you are, bringing your heart back to God.

That quiet willingness to trust him again matters. Even with questions. Even while healing.

God, give her wisdom about who she lets close, courage to love again, and a heart that remains open to you.

May this be your prayer today, too.
