Today, the Times Colonist — the oldest newspaper on Vancouver Island — featured our story on its front page.

The Muslim population on the West Shore is growing rapidly. Every Friday, 300+ people attend prayers in shifts, and during Ramadan, hundreds more gather daily. The community in Langford, Colwood, and View Royal continues to grow, with 250+ families now settled in the area. Our current space is simply not enough.

For the past two years, BCMA Westshore has been actively trying to purchase a property and has placed multiple offers on different locations. Despite these efforts, we continue to face major challenges:

* lack of city support
* no serviced institutional land
* high infrastructure costs

We now have only two years remaining on our current lease, and there is no certainty that it will be extended. This situation places our entire community in uncertainty.

We humbly request everyone to come forward and support us — through duas, advocacy, and donations — so we can build a permanent place for worship and community services on the West Shore.

The West Shore Muslim community, currently squeezing into two rooms in a Colwood strip mall, aims to find a place for a second mosque for Greater Victoria.

𝐁𝐂𝐌𝐀 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐣𝐢𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭:

The Muslim community in Westshore has seen remarkable growth in recent years. As our community continues to thrive, there is an increasing demand for a facility that can serve as a central hub for religious, educational, and social activities.

Established last year, the Musallah has quickly become a vibrant center, with Friday prayers regularly reaching full capacity. The Musallah offers a variety of programs.

The BCMA Westshore team has initiated the Masjid Project, the first mosque in the Westshore region. The goal is to acquire over one acre of land to build a place of worship that includes future expansions such as educational spaces, a community hall, and recreational areas. To achieve this, the team aims to raise $1 million by the end of this year, to acquire the land by July 2025.
