How are Christians supposed to engage with the culture of our city and our time without being negatively impacted by it? Should we create an “us and them” mentality, and engage in direct battle? Should we welcome all things? The Apostle Paul also engaged in this difficult form of evangelism by entering the marketplace and speaking with people about their beliefs. He put on gentleness and compassion in all his dealings, but he held to the truth of the gospel. He found the truth the philosophers and poets were already standing on, but also addressed their confusion, and he pointed them beyond where they were stuck, toward the steadfast love of the living God. With the help of the Holy Spirit, and in community, we can do the same. Check out the message if you missed it!

Our understanding of heaven impacts how we live each day. If we believe God is going to cast aside His creation, then it significantly changes how we care for this world, and how we view our daily work. But if God promises to bring new life out of what He has already made, and if Jesus was indeed the beginning of that new creation, then each and every day is imbued with a deep and lasting significance. So let us offer our work to God, and trust He will lead us into moments of witnessing heaven breaking forth into the world, today.

As fall approaches, it’s a great time to get connected at CRBC, and serving is one of the best ways to do it! Serving gives you an opportunity to meet people, grow in your faith, and be part of what God is doing in our church and community.

There are many ways to get involved at CRBC. You can serve on a Sunday morning, with kids or youth, in a small group, or through one of our many ministries throughout the week. Every role matters and every person has something to contribute.

It’s so easy when we are loaded up with tasks, pressures, challenges, to start to recede from relationship, from God first, and also from others. Why is it so hard to reach out for help? The way we are designed by God is to walk in step with the Holy Spirit, to abide in the vine, so that life and goodness can flow through us, filling us up with His righteousness and truth, so that we can love others. The way of fear and pride however will cause us to disengage, leading to the ways of the flesh. So let us cast off these works of darkness and offer ourselves to God, seeking Him first in all that we do, trusting He will guide us. Praise be to God, that we are free in the Spirit to do this!
