Eid Announcement – Please Read

As-salamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

After careful discussion and consultation, we would like to provide an update regarding Eid.

There are currently two valid positions being followed:
• BC Muslim Association (BCMA) has announced Eid for tomorrow
• Muslim Association of Safa has announced Eid for Friday

It is also important to note that some nearby communities, including Victoria and Courtenay, will be celebrating tomorrow.

At the same time, based on available scientific data, the moon was not visible locally in our region.

Given these differences, our priority as a society is to maintain unity within our local community and avoid division.

👉 Therefore, the society has decided that Eid will be celebrated on Friday. This is the final decision of the board.

Our initial message was based on our past practice of following BCMA. However, after further review, consultation, and consideration of both scholarly opinions and local context, we have made this decision in the best interest of community unity.

We respect all valid scholarly opinions and decisions made by other organizations.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation.

🌙 Eid-ul-Fitr Prayer Announcement

Alhamdulillah, we are pleased to announce the Eid-ul-Fitr Prayer, which will take place on 19 March 2026 or 20 March 2026, based on the sighting of the moon, in shaa Allah.

Men dropping off family members may use the 4th Ave entrance. After drop-off, please proceed to the Men’s Entrance – 5th Ave.

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

As mentioned in friday’s khutbah, the society will be collecting Zakat al-Māl and Zakat al-Fitr to distribute to those in need within our community and to support humanitarian needs in places such as Gaza and Sudan.

Zakat al-Fitr is due for every member of the household and should be paid before the Eid prayer. If a person has enough for themselves and their family for the day of Eid and a little extra, they should give Zakat al-Fitr. Traditionally it is one sa’ of staple food (~2.5–3 kg) per person. BCMA has suggested $25 per person, though some organizations suggest $10–$15, so you may give what you feel comfortable with.

Deadline for Zakat al-Fitr donations is March 16 so we have enough time to distribute the funds before Eid.

Zakat al-Māl is due on savings, cash, gold, silver, or business assets that have reached the nisab and been held for one lunar year, at 2.5% of the total amount.

In shā’ Allāh, we will be having a Community Potluck Iftar at the Musallah tomorrow and every Saturday throughout Ramadan.

We warmly invite you and your families to join us in breaking our fast together as one community.

Please bring two shares of food —
• One for the brothers’ side
• One for the sisters’ side

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever provides food for a fasting person to break his fast will have a reward like theirs, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest.”
— Jami` at-Tirmidhi

Come with your dishes, your duas, and your smiles. Let us fill the Musallah with barakah, unity, and love for the sake of Allah.

Alhamdulillah, the blessed month of Ramadan has been confirmed.
Our first Taraweeh prayer will be held tonight.
🕗 Isha: 8:15 PM
🕌 Taraweeh: Immediately after Isha
We will also have a weekly community potluck Iftar every Saturday, In sha Allah.
Details regarding Sadaqah al-Fitr and Zakat donations will be shared soon.
May Allah accept our fasting, prayers, and good deeds, and grant us a رمضان full of mercy and blessings. Ameen.
