WHAT IS A HUMAN?
In many communities that claim the name “Christian,” even among people who would be able to provide the right answers to the “Who is Jesus?” and “How can we be saved?” questions, we find no clarity when it comes to the question of humanness. In fact, it seems that many church members are currently deeply compromised in their understanding of what a properly Christian view of the human person is, and what this means. Their views on “anthropology”—which is the technical term for this area of theology—derive (in part or even substantially), not from Christian Scripture, but from other sources. And these ideas represent dangerous “cuckoos” in our Christian nest.

Public Lecture & Panel Discussion: Euthanasia in Canada with Dr. Brian Bird
Thursday, February 2, 2023
7:00 PM 9:00 PM
This public lecture, titled “Euthanasia in Canada: Progress or Runaway Train?” will be presented by Dr. Brian Bird of University of British Columbia’s Peter A. Allard School of Law. Dr. Bird will summarize the history of Canada’s euthanasia laws and discuss the pressing social, ethical, and legal concerns raised by euthanasia for Canadians and the future of Canadian society.

Following the lecture, there will be a panel discussion with representatives from communities directly impacted by the latest euthanasia policies including: Dr. Will Johnston (a seasoned family physician and former chair of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition), the Rev. Dr. Andrew Bennett (Program Director for Faith Communities at Cardus), and Neil Belanger (Executive Director of the British Columbia Aboriginal Network on Disability Society). The hope is that this event will critically discuss the ethical and legal concerns of euthanasia in Canada and chart a hopeful, life-affirming path forward. You are invited to join this important discussion.
