This year’s Truth and Reconciliation stamp issue features four stamps commemorating Orange Shirt Day.

This stamp design features Inuit communities and is illustrated by Jason Sikoak, an interdisciplinary Inuk artist from Rigolet, Nunatsiavut in Labrador, now residing in Tiohtià:ke (Montréal).

The stamp shows figures forming a spiral, reflecting how we learn and grow in an ever-expanding circle. Sun rays symbolize hope for younger generations, while the surrounding delta braid represents unity and connection across Inuit Nunangat.

When people talk about religion and MAiD, it's often as though all faith communities speak with one voice. They don't.

Over the years, we've been invited to speak about MAiD at numerous churches. While many religious communities have ethical concerns about assisted dying, some also recognize that their pastoral responsibility is to care for people wherever they are on their end-of-life journey.

The Anglican Church of Canada's publication of trial liturgies for people choosing MAiD reflects that approach. Whether or not every member of the Church agrees with MAiD, the Church recognizes that some parishioners will make that choice and deserve compassion, dignity, and spiritual support—not abandonment.

We commend the Anglican Church for embracing this nuanced and pastoral approach. It demonstrates that deeply held religious beliefs and compassionate accompaniment need not be mutually exclusive.

Ways to advocate for :

Gather with friends, colleagues, family, or congregants to wear black on Thursdays and advocate for a world without r**e and violence.

Host a time of sharing to hear from survivors or someone who has worked with survivors of gender-based violence.

Take a photo wearing black and share it on social media with a link to the Thursdays in Black website.

Identify local, national or global ministries/organizations that offer support to victims of gender-based violence and make a contribution with your "Thursdays in Black" group.
