In his Presidential Address to Synod, Archbishop Kanishka Raffel shared stories of lives changed by the gospel across our Diocese, from a Mandarin-speaking woman baptised after finding church through AI translation, to two young men who read the Bible together and asked to be baptised.

"Because they are just a glimpse of what God is doing among us."

Today was the final day of the 2026 School of Biblical Training with our mission partners, the Karen Anglican Mission on the Border (KAMB).

Thank you so much for praying for our team and all the participants throughout the week. We’ve been grateful for the opportunity to teach, learn and fellowship together, and to see the work God is doing through our brothers and sisters here.

Today we also had the opportunity to visit Noh Bo Academy, St Paul’s Bible School and an exciting new project with ARDFA .

As we wrap up the week, please continue to keep our Karen brothers and sisters in your prayers, for their churches, schools, communities and ongoing ministry.

Day 4 of the 2026 School of Biblical Training with our mission partners, the Karen Anglican Mission on the Border (KAMB).

Today was our final day of teaching, as we continued learning together through God’s Word and equipping one another for ministry. It’s been a full and encouraging week of teaching, discussion, questions and fellowship, and we’re so grateful for the opportunity to spend this time with our brothers and sisters here.

Tomorrow we’ll wrap up the School of Biblical Training together before we say goodbye and head home.

Day 3 of the 2026 School of Biblical Training with our mission partners, the Karen Anglican Mission on the Border (KAMB).

Today the clergy and lay leaders dug into James 3–4, while the Sunday School teachers worked together on what to include in their curriculum and shared ideas for teaching the big story of Jesus — his birth, ministry, death and resurrection, and his promised return. The audio to this video is them singing Colin Buchanan ‘s “Jesus is the mighty mighty king” in Karen.

It’s been a privilege to learn alongside one another, share ideas and be encouraged by the faith and ministry of our brothers and sisters here.

At Synod, Bishop Michael Stead urged the NSW Government to honour its election promises on conversion practices laws, and encouraged Christians to stay faithful in prayer and public engagement.
