Over this month, we have been reminded that God’s love is bigger than us, wider than our church, and reaching into places both near and far.

Through Faith Promise, we have heard about the people and organisations we support: local school chaplains, global aid and development, gospel media into Afghanistan, anti-trafficking work in Nepal, intercultural mission, and the development of First Nations Christian leaders.

This Sunday is our final Faith Promise Sunday.

We will be joined by our final guest speaker, Geoff Kingsford from Prison Fellowship, as he shares with us. We will also celebrate what has been given over the past year, announce the total raised through Faith Promise, share lunch as a church family, and prayerfully make our commitments for the year ahead.

Faith Promise is not simply a fundraising target. It is an act of prayerful trust. We ask God what he may be calling us to give, we make a commitment in faith, and then we trust him to provide through the year so that we can give toward his mission.

As Sunday approaches, we encourage you to pray.

Lord, what would you have me give?
How are you calling me to take part in your mission?
How might your love move through me for the sake of others?

We look forward to gathering, celebrating, eating together, and taking this next step of faith as a church.

YouthCARE

Through Faith Promise, we support YouthCARE chaplains serving in our local primary schools.

YouthCARE chaplains provide pastoral care and support for the social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of school communities. They are there for students, staff, and families, offering a listening ear, encouragement, care, and connection to further help where needed.

This is one of the ways our Faith Promise giving reaches close to home.

By supporting YouthCARE, we help place caring, trained chaplains in local schools, including primary schools in our own community.

Please pray for the chaplains serving in our area, for the students and families they support, and for God’s love to be seen through their presence and care.

BMA First Nations Leadership Development Fund

This year, we are beginning to support the Baptist Mission Australia First Nations Leadership Development Fund.

This fund helps provide accessible leadership training for emerging First Nations Christian leaders, while also honouring and championing the voices, gifts, and wisdom of Indigenous elders and leaders.

This is a way for us to support mission and discipleship here in Australia, strengthening First Nations followers of Jesus as they lead, serve, teach, and disciple within their own communities and beyond.

As a church, we want our Faith Promise giving to reflect the breadth of God’s mission: local, national, and global.

Please pray that this fund would encourage, equip, and strengthen First Nations Christian leaders for the work God has called them to do.

Shaeq Family through OM

Through Faith Promise, we support Khalil and Nazira Shaeq through OM.

Khalil and Nazira create radio, television, video, and media resources that share the good news of Jesus with people in Afghanistan and surrounding regions.

In places where open Christian witness can be difficult or dangerous, media can reach homes, hearts, and communities in powerful ways. It allows people to hear the message of Jesus in their own language, in culturally meaningful ways, and often in private.

We are also beginning to support A***n, who serves alongside his parents in this ministry.

Please pray for Khalil, Nazira, and A***n as they continue creating gospel-centred media for Afghan people, and pray that many would encounter the hope and love of Jesus through their work.

Every Daughter Matters

Through Faith Promise, we support Every Daughter Matters.

Every Daughter Matters is an Australian not-for-profit working to prevent the trafficking of Nepali girls and young women. Their work includes border interceptions, emergency shelters, safe homes, and long-term empowerment through trusted local partners in Nepal.

The Nepal and India border is one of the busiest trafficking gateways in the world. Every Daughter Matters works on the front line, helping intercept vulnerable girls before they are taken across the border and exploited.

This is urgent, practical, life-protecting work.

Through our Faith Promise giving, we help support this mission of rescue, dignity, and hope.

Please pray for the girls at risk, the local teams working on the border, and the ongoing work of Every Daughter Matters.

Baptist World Aid Australia

Through Faith Promise, we support Baptist World Aid Australia.

Baptist World Aid works with local Christian partners to help vulnerable communities flourish, fight poverty, respond to disasters, and pursue long-term change. Their heart is for a world where poverty has ended and all people can enjoy the fullness of life God intends.

Our support goes to helping Baptist World Aid respond to urgent needs and strengthen communities facing hunger, poverty, disaster, and injustice.

This kind of giving reminds us that love is not only a feeling. Love feeds, strengthens, restores, and stands with people in their time of need.

Through Faith Promise, we get to share in that work.

Introducing Nick and Carrissa Tan

This Faith Promise month, we are excited to introduce Nick and Carrissa Tan.

Nick and Carrissa are serving with Baptist Mission Australia and preparing for ministry in Thailand, where they will join the work of sharing Jesus in ways that are faithful, relational, and culturally meaningful.

Baptist Mission Australia describes its team members as listeners, learners, and alongsiders. That is a beautiful picture of mission: coming alongside local people, learning from them, loving them, and embodying the good news of Jesus in word and action.

As we begin supporting Nick and Carrissa, we have the opportunity to stand with them in prayer, encouragement, and practical financial support.

Please pray for them as they prepare, transition, and follow God’s call into this next season of ministry.

Introducing Faith Promise

During Faith Promise month, we take time as a church to remember that God’s love is not only something we receive, but something we are called to share. Throughout June, we are joining with the Baptist Mission Australia theme for this year, "What's Love Look Like?"

Faith Promise is our missions giving. It is separate from our regular tithing and is set aside to support people and organisations sharing the love and hope of Jesus locally, nationally, and around the world.

Through Faith Promise, we currently support Baptist Mission Australia, Baptist World Aid Australia, OM, Every Daughter Matters, YouthCARE, and the Baptist Mission Australia First Nations Leadership Development Fund.

Across these partnerships, our giving helps support local school chaplains, global aid and development, anti-trafficking work, gospel media into Afghanistan, intercultural mission, and the development of First Nations Christian leaders.

As we move through Faith Promise month, we invite you to pray, listen, and consider how God may be calling you to be a supporter or a part of this work.

National Reconciliation Week
This week, from 27 May to 3 June, is National Reconciliation Week. The week has strong Christian roots. In 1993, Australian Christians helped establish a Week of Prayer for Reconciliation, which later became the National Reconciliation Week we observe today. It is a time for Australians to reflect on our shared history, to listen and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to consider what justice, healing, and right relationship might require of us.

This year, the Christian organisation Common Grace has provided resources around the theme “All In: Reciprocity as Reconciliation.” The theme reminds us that reconciliation is not passive or one-sided, but involves humility, truth-telling, listening, learning, and a willingness to move toward one another in love.

This Sunday, we will acknowledge National Reconciliation Week and explore the broader biblical call to reconciliation. We will consider how Christ has moved toward us in grace, and how he calls us to become people who move toward reconciliation in our relationships, our community, and our world.

This week we being a new series called Proclaim, examining six sermons in Acts, and looking at what they proclaimed about Jesus and the Gospel. Pastor Ben will start the series, looking at Peter’s proclamation in Acts 4, after he and John were arrested for healing a lame man on the Sabbath, claiming that Jesus is the only means for salvation.
