SAVE THE DATE! - 50th Synod Opening Worship, 11 September 2026
The 50th Annual Meeting of the Synod of Western Australia meets on the weekend of 11 to 13 September 2026.
Our 50th Synod begins with an opening worship service which will include a special Celebration of Ministry recognising ministry milestones, and remembering ministers who have died.
The service will be led by our Moderator Rev David Jackson, with guest preacher Dr Ali Robinson, a Lecturer in New Testament at United Theological College in Sydney, who will also be leading the bible studies over the weekend.

Yesterday at Mount Pleasant Uniting Church, a special service for Gordon Smith as he commissioned as a Lay Preacher. We thank God for the presence and leadership of Rev Ken Devereux, Chair of Presbytery, and Rev Ana Leaaetoa (Presbytery Minister – Pastoral), along with the Presbytery and many others who came forward to lay hands on Gordon in prayer.

We praise God for Gordon’s ministry, and for God’s mission unfolding through God’s people. The sermon powerfully unpacked God’s call to Abraham by Rev Sione.

To Gordon and Reggie, and to your family—thank you for your faithfulness and service to God through His church. May the Lord continue to bless you, strengthen you, and guide you as you serve with love, humility and obedience.

Kava was presented during the gathering—an important part of the Fijian cultural tradition—along with time for fellowship, worship, and unity as we prepare for the upcoming Fijian National Conference in the first week of October.

A wonderful Fijian Community Gathering was held here at Mount Pleasant Uniting Church,
hosted by the Presbytery, as we continued the lead-up to the upcoming Fijian National Conference in the first week of October.

It was a meaningful time of culture, fellowship, and worship and a reminder of how UCA truly embodies its multicultural spirit.
In attendance were the Moderator of the WA Synod, Rev David Jackson, the General Secretary, David Beards, Presbytery Minister Pastoral, Rev Ana Leaaetoa, along with the Fijian National Conference Chair Rev Vini other ministers who were present in support.
