A major restoration at Christ Church Cathedral is progressing well, with the first three sections of external roof works now complete.

Bishop Peter joined representatives from construction company Duratec at the Cathedral yesterday to mark the milestone.

To celebrate the project’s progress, a new trefoil cross will be installed on the Warriors' Chapel.

The trefoil cross represents the Holy Trinity and, once installed, will be part of Newcastle’s iconic skyline for generations to come.

It's National Reconciliation Week.

This year's theme, 'All In', represents the need for us all to work together for reconciliation.

We've created a Sea of Hands throughout many of our locations as a symbol of solidarity.

Our people have also shared messages of respect, unity, and progress.

"Learning about Aboriginal people helps us understand our amazing history and culture," Newcastle Anglican Director of Reconciliation Aunty Di Langham says.

"It also teaches us to respect and care for the land and each other. Aboriginal culture is a big and special part of Australia’s story.

"Aboriginal history is our history. Every Australian has 60,000 years of history. It's part of who we are as Australians."

Celebrating Bishop Tyrrell Day ⭐

Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College (BTAC) gathered this morning to celebrate 28 years since its foundation and honour the life of William Tyrrell - the first Anglican Bishop of Newcastle.

Bishop Peter joined Principal Penny Curran-Peters, College Chaplain Reverend Kate Heath, and the BTAC community for a special service.

Each year, the college reflects on Bishop Tyrrell's legacy. His service, vision and commitment to education continues to inspire BTAC's mission today.

Volunteers play a crucial role across Newcastle Anglican – in our parishes, schools, and agencies.

As part of National Volunteer Week celebrations, we highlighted just a few of our many incredible volunteers within our parish communities.

At St Peter's East Maitland, Kerry Priestley has helped lead an amazing team of volunteers in the parish pantry who partner with Oz Harvest to feed 40 to 60 families in need.

It was a joyous occasion as Bishop Peter commissioned Reverend Sharon Murphy as Associate Priest of the Upper Hunter Minster on Wednesday night.

Parishioners joined the celebrations at St Alban's Muswellbrook and enjoyed supper following the service of Holy Communion.

Congratulations, Reverend Sharon.
