This Sunday at Toronto Anglican Church

Join us this Father’s Day, Sunday 6 September, as we gather for Holy Communion at 9am.

In this week’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that no one is insignificant or forgotten by God. We hear of the shepherd who searches for the one who is lost, and of Jesus’ vision for a community shaped by care, truth and accountability.

“It is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost.” Matthew 18:14 (NRSV)

☕ Morning tea will follow worship in the Church foyer, and our Father’s Day Spring Raffle will also be drawn.

Whether you worship with us regularly, haven’t been for a while, or are visiting for the first time, you are very welcome.

Blessed is She - Women Clergy Leaders Conference 2026

This past week, Rev’d Melanie joined almost 100 women clergy and church leaders from across Australia in Adelaide for the Blessed is She Conference - a wonderful few days of connection, learning, encouragement and challenge.

The conference brought women together to equip, mentor and support one another in ministry and leadership, with insightful, inspiring and at times challenging presentations and workshops. There was space to learn from one another, to reflect honestly on the realities of leadership and ministry, and to celebrate the gifts and voices women bring to the life of the Church.

It was also a wonderful opportunity to strengthen friendships and connections across dioceses and to return home encouraged, challenged and energised for ministry in our own communities.

🚗 A Small Request to Our Community About Parking 🚗

At Toronto Anglican Church, we are grateful to be part of such a caring community.

From time to time, you may notice bollards placed along the fence line in the council car park beside the church. These spaces are not reserved every day, but they are occasionally set aside for funerals and other large church events.

Many of those attending funerals are grieving the loss of someone they love. For some, walking long distances and up hills can be difficult, particularly for older mourners or those living with disability or limited mobility. Reserving nearby parking helps ensure family and close friends can remain together and access the church with dignity and ease.

Toronto Anglican Church has the Council's permission to park along the fence line 24 hours a day. Toronto Anglican Church mows the grass along the fence of the car park. Most of the time, these spaces remain available for general use. However, when bollards are in place, we kindly ask that you respect the temporary reservation.

Your consideration helps us care for families during some of life's most difficult moments and enables our larger community events to run safely and smoothly.

This Sunday at Toronto Anglican Church, we continue our journey through the season of Pentecost as we hear the Gospel of Jesus walking on the water (Matthew 14:22–33).

Life can sometimes feel like we are facing strong winds and uncertain waters. In this familiar Gospel reading, we are reminded that Christ comes to us not only in the calm moments of life, but also in the midst of the storm.

Join us as we gather in worship, prayer, Scripture and Holy Communion, and explore what it means to trust the One who reaches out to us with hope, courage and grace.

On Sunday, our Toronto Anglican Church community marked Daffodil Day as we remembered and prayed for all those affected by cancer, those newly diagnosed, those living with cancer, those receiving treatment, those in remission, those living with advanced or incurable cancer, the families and friends who walk alongside them, those who care for them, and those who grieve the loss of loved ones.

Following our service, we enjoyed a wonderful morning of fellowship over a delicious morning tea in the church foyer, giving us an opportunity to gather, connect and support this important cause together.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so generously. Donations remain open, and we are delighted to share that $475.00 has been raised so far for the Cancer Council.

Every donation helps fund vital cancer research, prevention programs and support services for people affected by cancer.

This Sunday we will stand alongside those affected by cancer as we mark Daffodil Day, with some special prayers at our 9am Service and raise funds during morning tea fellowship.

All are welcome as we gather to remember, pray and bring hope to all impacted by Cancer.

Let us pray:

Gracious and compassionate God, whose Son walked beside those who suffered and brought hope to the weary:
we pray for all who live with cancer, for those receiving treatment, those awaiting answers, those who care for loved ones, and those who grieve. Strengthen them with your presence, surround them with your peace, and uphold them with your unfailing love.
Bless all who work in research, medicine, nursing and support, that through their skill, wisdom and compassion lives may be restored and hope renewed. Teach us to bear one another's burdens with kindness and generosity, reflecting the love of Christ in all we do; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

☀️🌿 What a beautiful day for Church on the Move ☀️🌿

Today we gathered in sunshine to worship as we reflected on the parable of the mustard seed from the Gospel of Matthew.

We each took home two sunflower seeds to plant, nurture and watch grow. Each person decorated the envelope containing the seeds with the small ways we can each bring Jesus’ love, kindness and hope to our community.

🌻🌻 May our Sunflowers grow big and bring beauty to our gardens whilst teaching us that small things can mean so much and be bigger and beautiful than we can sometimes even imagine 🌻🌻

And just like Jesus’ parable of the mustard seed, it shows us the possibilities of the Kingdom of God. ❤️✝️
