“Here Am I”
Scripture:
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’” — Isaiah 6:8
Reflection:
Isaiah's response came after an encounter with the holiness and glory of God. Before he could say, “Here am I,” he first saw the Lord, recognized his own need for cleansing, and received God's gracious touch. Out of that place of forgiveness and transformation, a willing heart emerged.
God is still looking for men and women who will respond to His call with surrendered hearts. The call may not always be to a distant nation or a public ministry. Often it begins with simple obedience—serving where we are, speaking truth in love, praying faithfully, and being available to God each day.
The power of Isaiah's response is not found merely in the words, but in the posture of his heart. He did not ask for all the details before obeying. He simply made himself available to God. The Lord delights in using those who are yielded to Him. Our greatest qualification is not our ability but our availability.
Today, let us present ourselves afresh before the Lord and say, “Here am I. Send me wherever You desire, and use me however You choose.”
Discussion Questions:
1. What areas of your life is God calling you to greater surrender and availability?
2. How can you practically respond to God's call in your home, workplace, church, or community this week?
Declaration of Faith:
Father, I present myself to You today. I belong to You, spirit, soul, and body. I choose to yield my life fully to Your will. Open my ears to hear Your voice and soften my heart to obey Your leading. I declare that I am available for Your purposes and ready to serve wherever You send me. By Your Spirit, I will walk in obedience, faith, and humility. My life will bring glory to Jesus Christ. Amen.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your mercy, grace, and calling upon our lives. We acknowledge that You are holy, worthy, and sovereign over all things. We surrender ourselves afresh to You today and present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable in Your sight.
Lord, remove every hindrance that keeps us from wholehearted obedience. Purify our hearts, renew our minds, and fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Give us ears to hear Your voice and hearts that are quick to respond. May our answer to You be, “Here am I, send me.”
Use us to reflect the love of Christ, proclaim the truth of Your Word, and serve others with humility and compassion. Strengthen us to fulfill the assignments You have prepared for us and help us to walk faithfully in every season.
We thank You that You are with us, guiding us and empowering us by Your Spirit. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done in and through our lives.
We pray all these things in the mighty and precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.
