Hello All!

If you have some time, please join in to listen to my interview on Monday.

Radio Veritas is looking for other lay people to interview too, the presenter had not heard of salesians until this interview so if you are willing, please let me know so that we can create awareness about our apostolate to a larger audience🩷

As we mourn the passing of Aunty Josephine, we are reminded of what the PAL teaches us, that in communion with our deceased Cooperators, we continue the mission with fidelity and pray for them with gratitude for their witness and service.

The Association of Salesian Cooperators Project of Apostolic Life (PAL) speaks about the death of a fellow Salesian Cooperator mainly in Article 6, under Family Spirit. It says that Cooperators should:

Remain united in communion with deceased Salesian Cooperators and benefactors,

Be grateful for their witness and example,

Pray for them, especially through the celebration of the Mass.

We had a PPC meeting after mass today. While we don’t always agree - these meetings are so collaborative & fruitful.

The spirit of family & communion is with us as we each represent a whole ministry group & work in the parish’s service.

We continue to pray for the guidance & strength to make the right decisions collectively for the good of the parish🌼

Salesian Cooperators represented on the PPC - Lauren Bikhani, Chester Browne, Barbara Myburgh & Layla Campbell (Aspirant).

Yesterday we gathered as Salesian Cooperators for our monthly meeting.

Our formation went around the Christian Dimension of being a Salesian Cooperator.

‘The Salesian Cooperators find in Christ the foundation, the path, and the goal of one’s own being, of one’s own call, and within the vocational dynamic, of one’s own apostolic mission in the church.

They ‘follow Jesus Christ, the perfect Man, sent by the Father to serve the people of the world’ and because of this they ‘are committed to putting into practice the Gospel ideal of love for God & for one’s neighbour in the ordinary circumstances of life’.

Above just touching on the 4 page formation document. We were asked to reflect on questions:
1) How do I show that I am living Christ daily?
2) How do I share love to the young people?
3) Is my faith visible in actions?
4) How does Mary guide my mission?

We shared our answers for the first 2 questions & most of us had the same. Showing a smile, empathy, kindness, willingness to help daily, motivation, inspiring, leading by example.

Sr Lidia then enriched the content by saying that a lot of people can be good people & we can go to church & say novenas & attend mass & receive the Eucharist etc etc. But all is in vain if we do not have a personal relationship with God, that is what differentiates us as Christians. Before all the external stuff, are we building an intimate relationship with God & Mother Mary.

Khensani finished with ‘we are called to be the salt of the Earth & the Light of the World’ & the 2 final questions were homework.

We continued to reflect & give feedback on the oratory day, celebration planning for the 150yrs & our regular business. It was indeed another blessed encounter - leaving with my cup filled 🌸

What can I say!

150yrs of the Association is big! Bigger than I’m able to wrap my mind around right now. But when I look around my parish, when I spend time with the sisters, brothers or priests. Every time I encounter a catechist - I am reminded about all the gifts & treasures left to us by St John Bosco 🌸

What a time to be alive! Only 1 year as an official member, recently elected as the Coordinator (youngest in the group so super scary) - my journey as a cooperator continues to reflect in my daily life, in the lives of my children & in the many people I encounter.

I remember my cousin asking me before Lent what is this ‘Salesian’ thing about - I definitely need to do a better job with wearing my charism louder 🎉

Here’s to 150yrs! And many more to come!

We hear from Cedric & Jessica Poley about their journey as Salesian Cooperators 🌸

I truly believe that service in mission work strengthens relationships especially marriages through the teachings of Don Bosco.

With the guiding hand of Mary help of Christians & our FMA Sisters - we absolutely have the best chance at having beautiful, strong partnerships in marriage.

Please join us for a ‘Come & See’ at our next meeting. We would love to welcome you & spread the works of our founder.

And now from the other half of the heart in Gong Gong. Perry & Valerie drift are living out their apostolate in a very rural, difficult area. Their dedication & work to bring the Salesian spirit to their little town is so inspiring!

Remember to DM us to schedule a ‘Come & See’ 🩷

Today we took up the offertory at church to create awareness for the 150yr celebration. It was super cold & since its Mother’s Day the church was unusually empty. 😔

Going up as a team, taking the gifts of bread & wine is really something extraordinary. On the other side of the world, we have representation from Imelda Pierce representing our province at World Congress.

We are truly blessed to be part of this association & the group of people we walk with are family - that’s the beauty of being Salesian. 🌸
