Happy Birthday, Don Bosco!!

Today, I thank God for your incredible mission for the youth and for calling me to this beautiful ministry. Making my promise as a Salesian Cooperator in January 2016 has been a gift. As we live out the Strenna 2026 theme, I find myself standing at the Wedding Feast of Cana. I hear Mary instructing the servers and all of us to "Do whatever He tells you." On this mission for the young, I often bring my own limitations.

My prayer is simple: May God fill my empty jars with His grace, transforming my small efforts into w**e for the youth who need it most. Viva Don Bosco! 🙏🙌❤️🌹

As we continued to the 2nd part of the program of our Safeguarding Sunday, we hosted the children of the parish for multiple short movies including Daniel in the Lions Den, the story of Zaccheus & a few more.

We had an interactive question & answer session to ensure the movie reached hearts. Next we got to all dancing & getting the blood flowing, followed by dance competitions, Bible trivia competitions, scripture crosswords & mazes, lunch, egg & spoon races & more dancing! 🎉

It was an amazing day spent with our children, helping them feel cared for, concerned about & supported.

We ended off by interacting with parents as they collected their kids & handing out party packs.

On this Safeguarding Sunday, Khensani Machaba & Lauren Bikhani who are Salesian Cooperators part of the Safeguarding team participated in the mass creating awareness of the importance of child safety in our parish.

We participated in the readings, the collection, taking up the offertory, introducing ourselves again to the parish & ofcourse reminding everyone who we are & what our purpose is ❤️

It was an extremely blessed mass & we are grateful to be part of this amazing team.

At the SYM leadership training yesterday, we were given the opportunity to share on our vocations. My short talk was on being a Salesian Cooperator.

💙 WHO CAN BE A SALESIAN COOPERATOR?
Any Catholic lay man or woman, or diocesan clergy, 18 years of age or older wanting to become a member of the worldwide Salesian Family established by St. John Bosco.
Salesian Cooperators are the essential lay component of the Salesian Family. They live their normal daily lives in the world; they are parents, teachers, executives, youth workers, volunteers, students - anyone desiring to live the Gospel in a dedicated way according to the charism given to St. John Bosco.
Becoming a Cooperator is a personal response to the call of the Holy Spirit to live one’s Christian life in a particular way - the Salesian way. The call is not a dramatic summons from on high. It may simply be an invitation to come to a meeting, a desire to help others, or a curiosity that attracts one to share St. John Bosco’s work.

💙 WHY to become a Salesian Cooperator?
To bring God’s love and joy to those in greatest need, especially the young and poor. Cooperators are motivated by a simple but profound union with God and a desire to serve others. They seek to live Don Bosco’s motto, “Da mihi animas,” that is, “Give me souls.” Cooperators are apostles; they express their deep spirituality through active charity. Cooperators are zealous and available for the Lord’s work in a realistic and practical way.

💙 HOW to become a Salesian Cooperator?
Through sharing one’s God-given talents in the unique Salesian spirit. This spirit was given to the Church by God through St. John Bosco and it is kept alive by the hundreds of thousands of members of the Salesian Family.
The Lord invites the Cooperators to share their gifts and abilities with the young and others in need. Through this humble service, the Cooperators reveal in a concrete way God’s loving presence. There is an initial period of instruction and formation before a person is formerly inducted into the Association of Salesian Cooperators by making a simple promise. Membership in the Association creates a strong bond of support and friendship among all St. John Bosco’s spiritual sons and daughters.

Yesterday, 25th July, representatives from the Salesian Cooperators Ennerdale attended the SYM Leadership training facilitated by the current animation team & including Lawley & Finetown representatives as well as Bosco volunteers.

The day was extremely well spent with us learning about SYM as the umbrella & all the youth groups who fall under it. We had newly identified youth who were there to learn as part of a succession plan.

We enjoyed loads of games & beautiful sharing about each of our experiences in our individual ministry journeys.
Sancta Maria group prepared a delicious lunch for us 💕

We were represented by Riccardo Bikhani, Imelda Pierce, Khensani Machaba & Lauren Bikhani. Also present was an FMA & SDB so it felt like a mini family day 🌸
