When you want to produce results in the place of sacrifice, you must be willing to walk alone. The place of sacrifice is not a place for the crowd, it is a personal place between you and God. Many people want to enter their place of sacrifice with everyone around them, but there are places God will call you to where you cannot take your family, your friends, your husband, your wife, or everyone who surrounds you. The place of sacrifice is an individual place because it is your secret place with God.
When God instructed Abraham to go to Mount Moriah and sacrifice his son Isaac, Abraham did not call Sarah and tell her what God had said. He did not gather his friends for advice, and he did not start looking for people who would agree with him. He heard the voice of God, and he obeyed. Abraham did not reason with God or make excuses. Even when Isaac asked him, โWhere is the lamb for the burnt offering?โ Abraham continued to walk in faith because he trusted the God who had spoken to him. He depended on the voice of God rather than the opinions of people.
There are times when you must learn to keep quiet about what God has spoken to you. People who are not positioned in the place of sacrifice often talk too much. If you begin discussing everything God has told you with people who do not understand your assignment, they can make you reason yourself out of obedience. God says, โGo,โ but they ask, โWhy?โ God says, โSacrifice,โ but they ask, โAre you sure God said that?โ God says, โTrust Me,โ but they give you reasons to doubt. Before you know it, you have listened to so many voices that your altar remains empty.
The power of obedience is that God provides the lamb. Abraham did not know that God was going to provide the lamb. His responsibility was to obey, and God's responsibility was to provide. Sometimes we are so concerned about where the provision will come from that we forget to obey the instruction God has already given us. The God who called you to the mountain already knows what He has prepared for you at the mountain.
Some people are costing you your faith because every time you share what God has spoken to you, they discourage you. Stop discussing spiritual instructions with people who do not understand the things of God. Not everyone will understand your calling, your sacrifice, your assignment, or the price God has required you to pay. There are things God will speak to you that you must protect in your secret place because too many voices can weaken your faith and cause you to abandon your altar.
Some of you are asking why your finances are not responding, why your marriage is struggling, why your business is not moving, or why certain things have not changed. But you must ask yourself whether the altar is truly prepared. As long as the sacrifice remains in your hands instead of being placed completely on the altar, you cannot expect the altar to speak. God is looking for surrender, obedience, and a sacrifice that is completely yielded to Him.
Even Jesus understood the importance of the place of sacrifice. In Matthew 26:36โ41, Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. He told His disciples to sit while He went further. There are moments when you must go further with God, and not everyone can go into that place with you. Jesus took Peter, James, and John with Him, but even they could not enter the deepest place of His prayer. Jesus had to go further alone.
Some of you are wondering why you have not conquered certain battles, is because you have taken people with you into a place where God required you to be alone . You took them to the place of sacrifice, but when they got there, they slept and their sleep caused you to sleep too. You were supposed to pray, but they discouraged you. You were supposed to fast, but they convinced you to stop. You were supposed to obey, but they made you question God. You were supposed to keep moving, but their unbelief made you give up.
There are people you must leave behind not because you hate them, but because they cannot go where God is taking you. The place of sacrifice requires focus, separation, obedience, and total surrender. There are battles you must fight alone, prayers you must pray alone, decisions you must make alone, and sacrifices you must make between you and God.
The place of sacrifice is not a crowd. It is a place where you and your sacrifice stand before God. Nobody else can obey God on your behalf. There must come a time where you must stop explaining yourself to people and start obeying God. Protect your secret place, your faith and the word God has spoken over your life.
