Independent Order of True Templars There are currently 24 Grand Temples which affiliate with the Right Worthy office. Sub-Structures include:

1. Recording Secretary (GTRS).

The Independent Order of True Templars (IOTT)

Jurisdiction: South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho, Namibia and Zimbabwe

Aims and Objectives: To Preach and strengthen the word of God,
To preach Templarism,
To promote and make aware that the body of ones, is the Temple of the Lord (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
and to promote a sober Youth For a Sober Nation...

Membership: Any brothe

r and Sister can be a member of the Order, provided that they are first the member of a Christian denomination, and take oath as dictated by the Constitution of the IOTT. Where can I find the IOTT?: The IOTT is present all over Southern Africa, and the World (but internationally it is referred to as the Independent Order of Good Templars (IOGT)), But with regard to the IOTT one can find it in major towns and cities which are Presided over by Grand True Templars (Grand Temples). Juvenile Department (the small members of the order from 4yrs to 14yrs of age, presided over by the Grand True Superintendent of Juvenile Work (GTSJW) and Presidents of Band of Hopes in Districts (PBH).

2. Secretariat Department: the Engine of the order and Administration, Presided by the GTS with assistance from the GT. Vigilance Department: Deals with Health and Social Welfare for the good of society and the order, presided by the GT. Vigilance Secretary (GTVS).

4. Communication and Strategic Department: Deals with the Public Relations matters concerning the order in the media, and in schools, presided by the GT. Strategic Communications Secretary (GTSCS).

5. Chaplaincy and Evangelism: Deals with the spiritual growth of the order, presided by the GT. Chaplain (GTCHAP).

6. Finance Department: administration and accountability of monies, presided by the GT. Treasurer (GTTr).

7. Governance: The day to day management of the Order, in its matters, decisions and Grand Sessions, and President of the Grand Temple, referred to as the Grand True Templar (GTT)

8. Youth Department: The young, vibrant and future leaders of tomorrow and the order, are well protected under the guidance of the principles of the order, presided by the GT. Superintendent of Youth (GTSYW) And executive, with Superintendents of Youth Work assisting in District levels. Denominations: There are many denominations in the IOTT, such as:

ALCHOL - The tool used to destroy our culture

Our ancestors for generations used alcohol for recreational purposes,it was understood to be a mood lifter,not allowed to be character altering.Indigenous beverages played a crucial role during traditional ceremonies,quantities were carefully managed as too much of anything can lead to undesired results

Rules of the time prohibited over indulgence,or persons under the rightful age from participating in alcohol consumption,when one was found to have stepped out of line due to over consumption,punishment was prescribed according to wrong doing

Arrival of oondlebe zikhanyilanga,introduced selling alcohol for profit,that was the beginning of all social ills and immorality acts we are witnessing today,due to alcohol abuse,we have learnt to accept certain acts as normal,many with great potential in life are reduced to addicts who lost their ways

We have many lying underground due to abuse of alcohol,colonisers understood that a drunk nation can never groom the next generation,instead they will drag them to the same pit of self-destruction. Our society has normalised abuse of alchol,no longer shocked by acts resulting from alcohol abuse

Alcohol consumption is not a problem,the problem is colonisers making sure we are drowning in alcohol while they are looting the land and its minerals meant to progress indigenous people. We have more shebeens than any other type of business in townships,rural areas that use to be the pride of isintu namasiko ethu has turned into semi-townships,characterised by shebeens

We can’t embrace amasiko when we worship alcohol,we are losing the wisdom of our ancestors as we can’t hear them any more because we are always intoxicated.Abantu are leading the charts with alchohol consumption,our traditional ceremonies are flooded with alcohol,it is the prime of the ceremony,such disgrace is growing unabated,we have lost our way,colonisers strategy to destroy us using alchohol has won

Congratulations to Bro Siyanda Buhle'bezwe Makhubo for having been inducted as the Right Worthy Heritage and Archives Commissioner (RWHAC).

Some of the key responsibilities of Bro Makhubo includes;

- Setting the vision, goals, and policies for the IOTT on historical records and archival management.

- Effective management of historical records of all departments and Grand Temples.

- Digital preservation of historical records, including the physical and digital preservation of, and access to, public records and archival materials, including paper-based, audio-visual, and photographic records of the Order.

Before the year comes to an end, we look back and reflect on The 80th Annual Grand Session of the IOTT Transvaal and Eswatini Borders Grand Temple where a newly built house in Duduza was handed over to Sr Kolisang as part of the Grand Temple’s legacy projects and to celebrate the 80 years since the Grand Temple was established.

Sr Kolisang joined the order in 1962 under the Rock of Duduza no.17 in the Nigel Combined District and has been a grand and worthy member of the Independent Order of True Templars since.

The newly built house is fully furnished and was officially handed over by the Right Worthy Templar, Bro T.J Gaduka, the Grand True Templar, Sr Dr Mausley Modipane, and members of the Grand Executive Committee.
