Church of the Week (14 - 21 June 2026)
We focus our prayers the coming week on Emmasdale Baptist Church (EBC) in Lusaka, Zambia, where Isaac Makashinyi serves as pastor-teacher. Here is how you can pray for the church.
- Thank God that EBC’s daughter church, Harvest Baptist Church (HBC), has now begun meeting in its own church building, though construction is not yet complete. Pray for the Lord to provide the additional resources needed to finish the remaining works.
- Pray that the Lord will lead the church to the right man to set apart as missionary pastor at HBC.
- Pray for God’s provision as the church seeks to fully pay for a sizable piece of land that has been offered. By his grace, the church has already raised about half of the required amount. This property will serve as a strategic base for growing outreach ministry in the Lusaka community.
- Pray that the church will faithfully invest time, energy, and resources in the young people of the church, discipling them to become godly leaders, faithful servants of Christ, and responsible members of society.
- Pray for continued spiritual growth among members, for gospel unity, and for active, joyful participation in the life and ministry of the church. Pastor Isaac is currently preaching through the theme “United in Christ, Serving Together,” encouraging members to faithfully and diligently use spiritual gifts for the edification of the body.
- Pray that the visitors whom the Lord has been bringing to services will hear, understand, and respond to the gospel.
- Pray for members who have been facing prolonged health challenges. Ask the Lord to grant healing according to his will, to sustain them with his grace, and to use their afflictions for his glory and their spiritual good.
- Pray for the church’s second Missions Conference, scheduled for July. Pray that he will use it to deepen the church’s burden for the lost, strengthen its commitment to world missions, and fuel its zeal for personal evangelism.
- Pray for Pastor Isaac as he travels to South Africa next week to speak at the annual Theological Education Association of Southern Africa (TEASA) Bible College Consultation. Pray for safety in travel, wisdom, and effectiveness in ministry.
