*CMRM Celebrates Milad al-Nabi*

On Monday evening, 24 August 2026, the Claremont Main Road Masjid (CMRM) convened its annual Mawlid al-Nabi celebration.

The masjid was once again filled with a spiritual ambience as the congregation gathered to honour the birth and blessed life of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

For the 14th year in succession the Al-Ahly Dhikr Jama‘ah once again led the congregation in the evening's celebration, beginning with an opening dhikr, followed by the traditional Opening Salam of the Mawlid and the recital of the First and Last Barzanji riwayat.

For the second year in succession, a special feature of the evening was a beautiful recital by the CMRM Ladies Sharaf al-Anam Group, who rendered one of the riwayat from the Sharaf al-Anam Mawlid, popularly known as "Ramaqat". The formal programme concluded with the Ashraqal.

CMRM thanks the Al-Ahly Dhikr Jama‘ah, the Ladies Sharaf al-Anam Group, and all those who generously contributed to making the 2026 Milad al-Nabi celebration a success.

*Ladies Sharaf al-Anam Mawlud Recital Course*

On Thursday evening, 20 August 2026, twenty-five ladies graduated from an eight-week course in which they learned to recite the Sharaf al-Anam Mawlud al-Nabi poetry in honour of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This was the second year in succession that CMRM convened this highly successful ladies-only course.

Held on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm to 8.30pm, the course ran from 02 July to 20 August 2026. This year attendees once again practised Riwayat No. 2 and also learned Riwayat No. 5 from the Sharaful Anam Mawlud Riwaya. This was the second year in succession that CMRM convened this highly successful ladies-only course.

Upon completion, each graduate was proudly awarded a certificate marking her accomplishment in the melodious recitation of the Sharaf al-Anam Mawlud al-Nabi Riwayat.

We were once again privileged to have Mu'allima Mariam Abdurahman teach the class. She is the granddaughter of the late Ḥajjah Mariam Bassier Dramat, the doyen of the Cape tradition of ladies' Mawlud al-Nabi celebrations, and founder of the Al-Faḍīlah Ladies Mawlūd Jamāʿah. It is a blessing to see this treasured tradition carried forward through her.

Congratulations to all the graduates on this achievement. May Allah accept their efforts and fill their hearts with the love of our beloved Nabi Muhammad (pbuh). Allahumma Amin.
