Young People verses Ministers Sports Day

Our congregation's young people, ministers, and their families participated in a fun-filled Sports Day, on 16 June 2026 at the Westridge Gardens, challenging one another while fostering an atmosphere of excitement, unity, and fellowship. Activities such as Tug of War brought plenty of laughter and friendly competition, allowing everyone to enjoy a memorable day together.

Sunday School children's Divine Service English Hymnal 127 - Give me Joy in my heart sung after the closing of the Divine Service

In the hands of our good God

On Sunday, 14 June 2026, our children gathered to experience a Divine Service especially for them, centred on the message that God thinks about us and gives us a future and hope.

The Sunday School Divine Service was officiated by our Rector, Community Evangelist Jerry Mentor, who engaged warmly with the children and beautifully interacted with them throughout the service, creating a joyful and meaningful experience for all.

The Bible text was read from Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV):

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."

Summary:
■ God thinks about each person personally and lovingly.
■ His thoughts are thoughts of peace.
■ God not only grants us a future here in this world, but even goes
beyond that to promise us eternal fellowship with Himself.
■ The hope that God gives us strengthens us today and gives us
courage in all circumstances.

After the closing of the Divine Service, the children beautifully rendered English Hymnal 127, Give Me Joy in My Heart, bringing a joyful conclusion to the service.

Thereafter, our Rector warmly greeted all those in attendance.

Serving with joy

The Divine Service on the second Sunday focused on joy as a motivation for serving. This theme was especially fitting, as it also provided an opportunity for our young people and final-year confirmands to participate in the Serving in Christ Initiative.

The sermon was conducted by our Rector, Community Evangelist Jerry Mentor. He called Priest Earnest Pienaar to serve alongside him.
The text word shared with the congregation was read from Nehemiah 8:10 (excerpt)
Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. (NKJV)

Message
We serve in the joy that Christ is near us.

Summary
■ Christians are called to serve God joyfully in the church.
■ When we serve, let us be aware that we are serving both God and our neighbour.
■ When we serve with enthusiasm, our witness can be inviting.
■ The deepest source of our joy is the nearness of Jesus Himself.

Following the conclusion of the Divine Service, our Rector read a letter from our District Apostle announcing the formation of a new district, of which the Lentegeur Congregation will form part. Effective from mid-July 2026, our congregation will be incorporated into the newly established Morgenster District.

Priest Colin Williams, who currently serves as the Rector of Wavecrest congregation, will be appointed as our new District Rector.
This appointment will take place during the divine service at Eisleben South on Tuesday, 14 July 2026.
