ASH WEDNESDAY MASS/SERVICE TIMES (18th February 2026)!!✝️🕊️

~Services: St Rita's 3pm and St Joseph's 3pm.

~The Wednesday Masses at St Rita's during Lent is at 6am.

~Stations of the Cross every Wednesday during Lent at 7pm at St Joseph's.

St Joseph the Worker Youth and Young adults as well as Mother of Good Parish and friends of St Joseph's ended our Youth programs for the Year with our Annual Stay Awake.

The Stay Awake was filled with topics affecting our Youth today such as LGBTG and their/it's place in the church; programs such as Love Matters delving into relationships, sexual purity and what the Bible and we watched the movie Unplanned depicting the scourge of abortion and the devastating effects on society, family and human life.

Each segment was filled with activity, debates, sketches, games, teaching and prayer. Our youth learnt to value life, honor themselves, their bodies and the lives of others. These discussions were so deep and brought each person to come to know themselves and better understand each other.

Although the subject matter was heavy and intense, time was created for fun and lots of laughter. Once again God's grace was sufficient and our youth had much to think about before closing for a well deserved holiday season.

A special thanks to Garden Booth and Whitney Whitebooi our guest speakers; thanks to Ceyana Fillis and Jordan Esbach our program directors and your teams and a big thank you to each and every person who spent the evening with us. Father Arinze C.O. we thank you for once again coming out to check on us, for supporting our program and lending a hand when we needed it; your love and support is invaluable.

St Joseph the Worker Parish was blessed over the Advent Season to have the children from Akhanani Good Shepherds Mission perform their rendition of the Christmas story.

With the help of Sr Caroline and the staff of Akhanani, we had music, drama and the funniest sheep in this beautiful production.

Members of Parish as well as children from the surrounding community came out to witness this most beautiful Bible depiction presented with love by these special children.

Special thanks to the Congregation of the Good Shepherd most especially Sr Caroline who made it possible; thanks to the staff of Akhanani Good Shepherd Mission for your love and dedication to these special souls; thanks to Fr Arinze Okeke C.O. for allowing us the opportunity and for your undying support to our Parish and surrounding community, with you this day would not have finally materialized. To each and every parishioner and child who was present, we thank you for coming.

St Joseph the Worker Youth and Young Adults, Mother of Good Hope Youth and friends of St Joseph's celebrated the Feasts of All Saints and All Souls by having a dress up movie night, complete with burgers, popcorn and cool drinks watching a movies together.

The evening was filled with fun and laughter, new friends were made and unbreakable bonds were forged.

Once again our young people outdid themselves by dressing up, showing up and having fun. They learnt the value of taking care of yourself spiritually, they learnt the value of blessed sacramentals, confession and faith in God.

The discussion after the movie was eye opening and had me hopeful that our youth will grow up understanding the power of prayer and have relationship with Our Father in heaven.

Special thanks to the Youth and Mentors of Mother of Good Hope Parish for your love and support to our Parish youth. May this bond we have forged remain for years to come.
Thank you to Fr Arinze Okeke C.O. for all your assistance in making this day possible for our youth and for always going the extra mile for us. Your patience and love means the world. To the youth who worked hard to make it happen, you did it and I can't wait to see what this year has in store for you!

What you missed!

The year ended and begun at such a rapid a pace we had no time to catch you up! Our humblest apologies for the delay but the next few posts are how the year ended, following which is how 2026 begun!
Enjoy the ride!

St Joseph the Worker Youth would like to give special mention to local legend Jamal; frequent visitor to our youth space; who invited his home parish youth, Mother of Good Hope Parish in Booysens Park, to our final three youth events and what an amazing dynamic this brought to our youth space. Double the fun, double the laughter, double the sharing, caring and prayers. It filled our beautiful hall, St Finbarrs with new life, light and energy.

The program titled 'Man in the Mirror' had us all exploring Who we are in Christ, Our purpose, His plans and a lot of introspection in between. Of course we had to sing Michael Jackson's rendition of 'Man in the Mirror' with words and actions which was an absolute blast. Powerful biblical principles to live by were reflected on and shared. This program was well prepared, thought provoking and reflective of whom we are VS whom God created us to be. It left each of reflecting on who we are and who we ought to be.

Thank you Jamal for sharing with us your biblical insight, reflections, teachings and of course those MJ moves and voice!

Thank you to all who made the evening possible. Fr Arinze Okeke C.O. for staying late that evening to help us out with transport. Thank you also to all our parents, siblings and friends of our youth who help us out with transport for those who need weekly. I appreciate all your dedication and support in bringing together our youth for the purpose of having a space in which our young people can be with each other for the purpose of growing and openly being able to share their experience and freely express their love for Christ without the judgement of the secular world.
