SCAM ALERT

We have received reports that someone is calling members of our community claiming to be Sergeant Walker with the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office.

These calls are fraudulent. The caller may claim you have missed jury duty, have an outstanding warrant, or owe money and will attempt to pressure you into making an immediate payment.

Please remember:

The Sheriff's Office will never demand payment over the phone.
We will never ask you to pay using gift cards, cryptocurrency, or payment apps. We will never threaten you with immediate arrest if you do not make a payment during the call.

If you receive one of these calls:

Hang up immediately.
Do not provide any personal or financial information.
Report the incident to the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office using our non-emergency number.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this post to protect your family, friends, and neighbors from becoming victims of this scam.
