Unitarian Universalist Church of Yakima

Unitarian Universalist Church of Yakima A welcoming church of open-minded compassionate people of all ages.

We celebrate life, affirm the worth and dignity of all people, seek wisdom, and work for justice in the Yakima Valley. Celebrating liberal religion since 1956, we are a member congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Association. We offer Family Worship and Lifespan Religious Education programs every Sunday, in addition to other programs of fellowship, spiritual development, and social justice.

We are a certified Welcoming Congregation that embraces people of any age, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, class, ability, language, or cultural background.

We will first gather at 10 a.m. for our Annual Meeting. With today’s theme of “Flourishing Together” we will set our budget and select our leaders to serve our congregation for the coming year. Then a shortened but thoughtful service led by Susan Kaphammer will call us to appreciate our individual talents, thoughts and personalities as worthy and beautiful. Flourishing together in this congregation we create a bouquet of integrity, courage and justice for our lives and for our world.

Join Bill Bosch this Sunday for a brief biography, sharing his personal spiritual journey, and reflect on how the Ubuntu philosophy, "I am because we are", is at the heart of much that he has learned along the way.

Poetry is necessary, even in the best of times and we could all use a bit more now. This Sunday, some special guests along with some familiar faces will be presenting a few of their own poems and we expect to have time for the poets in our congregation to come up and read an original piece in our annual UU open mic. Let’s have some fun!

Remember how curious we were as children? Everything was new, mysterious and possibly wonderful! Then time and all the complications of life may have dampened our awareness of the mysteries that abound in our world. As Unitarian Universalists, we are practicing our faith when we allow ourselves to be, “seekers, wonderers, appreciators of nature, connoisseurs of curiosity and creators of connection...” (Bran Lennox). This Sunday, Susan Kaphammer will explore the spiritual value of Awakening Curiosity. This service will also offer readings and comments recognizing Mother’s Day.

Even before the first Earth Day, environmental activism has often been portrayed as an elitist activity. In reality, the major environmental issues are also economic justice issues. We'll review the origin and evolution of Earth Day, and ways we all can support the health of our planet at this time. Featuring Bill Jacobs, Phil Dindia and special guest star Coleen Anderson!

This Sunday, meet the Easter bunny! Hear spring music, discover traditions old and new, and create your own treasure from odds and ends on Sunday, April 5th in our all ages service. An Easter Egg hunt will follow immediately after the service. For those of you with children, please feel free to bring a basket/bag for all their goodies :)

03/27/2026

Join us this Sunday for a more informal gathering as we explore Unitarian Universalism together, both in the wider movement and here in our own congregation. We’ll reflect on what feels right, what feels challenging, what may be missing, and what still feels confusing. Come with open hearts and open minds as we create a safe space for honest conversation and help strengthen our community together.
