Woodbury Jewish Center

Woodbury Jewish Center We are an egalitarian Conservative congregation that embraces a diverse membership. Member participation is at the very heart of The Woodbury Jewish Center.

The Woodbury Jewish Center is a conservative synagogue affiliated with the United Synagogue of America. Created in 1989, the first new conservative synagogue in Nassau County in a generation, the Woodbury Jewish Center is home to a vibrant and growing congregation of over 400 families. In 2002, just ten years after the completion of our original building, we completed an expansion which provides e

nlarged facilities for our superb nursery and religious schools, as well as a Youth Chapel and additional space for celebration of simchas. This expansion, a project that we named "L'Dor V'Dor" (from generation to generation), is itself an enduring expression of our commitment to grow with the needs of our congregation and community, and to be a leading Jewish institution on Long Island. We were founded as an egalitarian synagogue, where men and women may choose to participate in every aspect of Jewish tradition and ritual observance. We are a place where family and friends come together in a comfortable spiritual, social and physical atmosphere to celebrate simchas, and to find comfort in times of sorrow and need. We are deeply committed to engaging our children in the religious and social life of our synagogue, enabling them to discover, strengthen, enjoy and take pride in their Jewish identities. To this end, we offer a rich religious school program (including Special Ed classes), Junior Congregation services, alternative High Holy Day services for families with young children, holiday activities and social events, and active youth group programs. We offer a wide range of Adult Education opportunities, as well as an active and very successful Seniors Group. We invite you to join a warm and loving community filled with values and traditions. We invite you to join a thriving congregation committed to leadership in the Jewish community. We invite you to seize an opportunity for your children to discover and cherish their Jewish heritage. We invite you to join us, the congregation of the Woodbury Jewish Center.

The weather outside is frightful but these snowmen are delightful! Let it snow, let it snow let it snow!

After learning how to say 'snow" and "snowman" in Hebrew and talking about what winter is like in Israel, students made snowmen who are proud to show off their Jewish pride.

Some snow can't keep us away from a fun morning! This morning our K-2 students created beautiful canvas paintings. They drew inspiration from the word SHALOM and thought about creating a world with peace as they painted doves surrounded by hearts.

On this Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, we brought the concepts he taught and that we as Jews place importance on to life in our paintings.

Shavua Tov! Our Kindergarten - 2nd graders and their families, joined together for a special Havdalah program. After Havdalah led by Rabbi Fruithandler and Cantor Friedman, children made their own Havdalah sets so they can continue to do it at home each week. It was a wonderful way to welcome in the new week ahead.
