"I'll do it when things calm down."

We say we'll pray more when the schedule eases, come back to church when work settles, reconnect when the crisis passes. But life has a way of replacing one pressure with another.

Jesus didn't wait for His disciples to get their schedules perfect. He met people at work, in homes, in storms, and at sickbeds. The Gospel is good news for people who need God while life is still happening.

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1 (KJV)

You don't have to rearrange your whole life today. Take one faithful step: pray again, come to worship, call somebody from church, open the Bible before opening another app.

Parents carry an enormous responsibility. We feed, clothe, protect, teach, encourage, and plan. Good parents spend years trying to give their children what they need.

But eventually every parent discovers a humbling truth: there are places in your child’s life that your love cannot reach by itself. You can prepare them for life, but you cannot be God to them.

Deuteronomy 6:6–7 (KJV)
“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”

Mark 10:14 (KJV)
“Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not.”

Faith belongs in the ordinary rhythms of the home. The gathered church also gives children something the home cannot provide by itself: a larger community of believers who worship, teach, and pray.

What God Is Showing Me… I can give my children many good things, but the greatest thing I can do is keep pointing them toward the God who can go where I cannot.

“Pastor, I have to work on Sunday.” For many believers, that is not an excuse. It is a real condition of employment. Healthcare workers, caregivers, public safety, retail, factory, and transportation workers often do not control their Sunday schedules.

The church must not condemn people for circumstances we have not taken time to understand. A difficult schedule must not quietly become total spiritual disconnection either.

Hebrews 10:24–25 (KJV)
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another.”

If work keeps you from a particular service, stay intentional: attend when you can, join Bible study, participate in prayer, listen to the Word, stay in touch with your pastor and church family, and bring your children when your schedule permits.

Do not let your schedule tell you that you no longer belong. At The Evidence Churches, we want to help you reconnect, not interrogate you.

What God Is Showing Me… A difficult schedule may change how I connect, but it does not have to decide whether I connect.

There are seasons when the first thing we say is, “I just need a day off.” Sometimes that is true. The body needs sleep. Wisdom respects human limits — exhaustion is not holiness.

But not every kind of tired can be fixed by resting the body. You can sleep late and still wake up heavy. You can take a vacation and discover that the burden packed its bags and came with you.

Psalm 42:5 (KJV)
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God.”

Mark 6:31 (KJV)
“Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while.”

Rest is biblical. So is worship, fellowship, prayer, and hearing the Word. Philippians 4:7 speaks of “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding.” The peace of God is the reward of the surrender to God.

If you need rest, rest. But do not disappear from God. Do not disappear from people who can pray for you.

What God Is Showing Me… A day off can rest my schedule, but only God can restore my soul.

TOMORROW IS 4TH SUNDAY — AND WE’RE GOING TO THE EVIDENCE CHURCH 2!

Evidence Church family, tomorrow is not just another Sunday. It is another opportunity God has given us to worship together, grow together, and bring somebody with us.

I’m asking every member: don’t come alone. Call your children. Invite your grandchildren. Reach out to a family member, neighbor, coworker, or friend. Think especially about somebody who has been missing church, going through something, or simply needs to know that there is a place where they can encounter Jesus and be loved.

Come early and bring the family to Sunday School at 10:30 AM. Bring your Bible, open the Word, ask questions, and let us grow together.

Then at 12:00 NOON, we gather for our Worship Experience. Come expecting to praise God, hear His Word, encourage somebody else, and encounter His presence.

Tomorrow — Sunday, September 27
THE EVIDENCE CHURCH 2
205 Cashie Street
Lewiston Woodville, NC 27849

Sunday School — 10:30 AM
Worship Experience — 12:00 Noon

Somebody you know may need what God is going to do tomorrow—but they may never get there unless you invite them.

Jesus said, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” — John 12:32 (KJV)

Evidence family, let’s fill the house with people, fill the atmosphere with praise, and let Jesus be the reason we came.

YOU’RE INVITED. YOUR FAMILY IS INVITED. YOUR FRIENDS ARE INVITED.

Sometimes the hardest time to get to church is the very season when you most need what God placed in the church.

When life is easy, fellowship can feel like an accessory. When life is heavy, we begin to understand why God designed believers to pray for one another, encourage one another, bear one another’s burdens, and keep pointing one another toward Jesus.

Hebrews 10:24–25 (KJV)
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another.”

What God is showing me: sometimes people do not need to be scolded back into church; they need to be shepherded back to Jesus.

Sometimes church can feel a little like the doctor’s office — but you don’t just come to wait. You come to be healed.

The service is not the Savior. Jesus is.

Psalm 122:1 (KJV)
“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.”

Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Sometimes church can feel a little like the doctor’s office — a time to arrive, a place to sit, things in a certain order, and moments of waiting for what you really came for.

But nobody goes to the doctor because they love the waiting room. You go because there is something you need on the other side of it. In the same way: the service is not the Savior. The order of service is not the Savior. The building is not the Savior. Jesus is the Savior.

Psalm 122:1 (KJV)
“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.”

Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

If church has felt routine lately, come looking for Jesus. The waiting room may not be exciting — but waiting is not wasted when it keeps you in position to receive what you came for.

Jesus did not wait for us to find Him.
He came looking for us.

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” — Luke 19:10 (KJV)

Every soul matters to Him — the overlooked, the weary, the ones who feel too far gone. The harvest is still white. Go after the one.
