Planning, preparing, and getting ready for the Jesus Marathon!

As you can see from the photo, our staff gathered around the table today as we prepare for another busy season of ministry. Along with our annual "Mass Cleaning," we're organizing projects, coordinating volunteers, and making sure everything is ready for the hundreds of servant-hearted people who will soon be arriving to help families across our communities.

What many people see is the work on the job site. What they don't always see is the prayer, planning, and preparation that happens beforehand.

Please keep our staff, volunteers, and the homeowners we will serve in your prayers. We are excited to see what God has in store as another Jesus Marathon begins.

In times of disaster, partnerships matter.

Carolina Rebuilding Ministry is honored to announce that the American Red Cross has officially set up operations within our facility as we prepare together for future storms and emergencies across eastern North Carolina.

When disaster strikes, the American Red Cross will utilize this space to help distribute clothing and essential items to storm survivors and families in need. This partnership strengthens our shared mission of serving people with compassion, dignity, and hope during some of life’s hardest moments.

At CRM, we believe ministry is more than words, it is action. It is neighbors helping neighbors. It is the Church and community standing together before, during, and after the storm.

We are also asking our volunteers, churches, and supporters to help us prepare now by donating gently used or new clothing items that can be distributed to families affected by future disasters. Every shirt, pair of shoes, jacket, and blanket has the potential to remind someone that they are not forgotten.

We are grateful for the trust and collaboration of the American Red Cross and look forward to what can be accomplished together for the people of eastern North Carolina.

There are some people who quietly live out the Gospel without ever needing recognition. Jeff Ireland is one of those people.

Recently, Jeff underwent a nephrectomy; the surgical removal of a kidney and by the grace of God, he is recovering very well. We praise God for His healing hand, for the doctors, and for the strength Jeff continues to show each day.

Over the past several weeks, I have spent a great deal of time talking with him. What has amazed me most is this: even while recovering from major surgery, Jeff rarely talks about himself. His concern has continually been for other people, for the volunteers, for the families we serve, and for the mission of Carolina Rebuilding Ministry.

That kind of heart cannot be manufactured. It comes from a deep commitment to God and a servant spirit that reflects Christ.

Jeff has continually poured himself into CRM, and even during recovery, his focus remains on serving others instead of seeking comfort for himself. In a world that often teaches people to put themselves first, Jeff reminds us what faithful service, humility, and compassion truly look like.

Please continue to keep Jeff in your prayers as he heals and regains his strength. We are thankful for him, thankful for his friendship, and thankful for the example he sets for this ministry every single day.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

We would like to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks to the incredible members of Salem Methodist Church in Albemarle, NC.

When the Conetoe Family Life Center was in need of volunteers to help build a 70-foot building, they reached out to CRM to see if we could assist. Without hesitation, Salem Methodist stepped up with a resounding YES!

Your willingness to serve, your hard work, and your generous spirit truly made a difference. It’s a blessing to witness a community come together in support of such a meaningful cause.

Thank you for being the hands and feet of service; your impact will be felt for years to come!

Last week, I chose the long road from Tarboro, NC to Plainwell, MI, not because I had to, but because I needed to. No music, no distractions, just me, God, and miles of open highway. Somewhere along that drive, in the quiet, my heart was reminded of how faithful He is.

When I arrived, that same faithfulness met me through the people of Plainwell UMC. I wasn’t just welcomed; I was cared for, poured into, and loved in a way that felt deeply personal. A brother opened his home to me, fed me (plenty! 😄), and served me so selflessly. I truly lacked nothing. That’s the body of Christ in action.

Everywhere I went, I saw glimpses of that same spirit, whether it was through conversations, shared meals, or even seeing CRM represented around the community. It’s alive there. It’s real.

I also had the chance to visit Martin Christian Reformed Church and a local homestead farm, both of which stirred something in me. New ideas, new vision, and a renewed excitement for how we can continue reaching people for the Kingdom.

Then Sunday came… and what a gift it was. Worshiping together was already special, but seeing students from GVSU show up unexpectedly? That was one of those quiet, beautiful moments that just reminds you, God is always moving, even in the surprises.

Plainwell UMC, Thank you. For your love, your generosity, your faithfulness… and yes, for the extra pounds too. I leave full in more ways than one, and deeply grateful for each of you.
