Ryerson Baptist Church

Ryerson Baptist Church Bible teaching, worship, missions, youth activities, and family events. Our Pastor is: Ryan Tharp and was later moved to
Ryerson Station Pa. in 1874.

The church was originally located in the village of Crabapple Pa. The original church name was, “South Wheeling Baptist”. It was given this name because it was located next to the South Wheeling Creek. After being closed for some time it was reopened as a mission church by Cameron Baptist Church of
Cameron West Virginia. The church later constituted as their own entity and added the word “Ryerson”

to their name to set it apart from other churches in the association located in Wheeling West Virginia. A new church was constructed in 2006 approximately 1.5 miles east of the original location. The original structure is still standing and remains property of the church to this day.

On this Maundy Thursday, we remember the night when our Lord Jesus gathered with His disciples in the upper room.

He took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and said,
“This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
After supper He took the cup and said,
“This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”
(Luke 22:19-20)

It was also on this night that Jesus gave us a new commandment:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
(John 13:34-35)

As we prepare our hearts for Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday may we reflect on the depth of Christ’s love — a love that would lead Him to the cross for our sins.

Let us remember His sacrifice and commit ourselves anew to love as He loved.

May God bless Pastor Jonathan, his family and the congregation at Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. May the Lord bring many visitors this coming Sunday in support of Cities Church.

Standing Together in Prayer and Gospel Resolve

The Upper Ohio Valley Baptist Association stands in prayerful support of Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, and their pastor and missionary Jonathan Parnell, following the deeply troubling disruption of worship services this past Sunday.

We echo the statements released by numerous Southern Baptists Leaders, and Kevin Ezell, President of the North American Mission Board, as they clearly affirm that no cause—political or otherwise—justifies the violation of Christian worship or the intimidation of families gathered in the house of the Lord.

We are grateful for the swift response of law enforcement and the ongoing investigation, and we join Southern Baptists across the nation in standing firmly with our missionaries, church planters, and local churches who faithfully proclaim the Gospel.

Please join us in praying:
• For Pastor Jonathan Parnell, that he would continue to lead with courage, clarity, and Christ-centered boldness
• For Cities Church, that they would remain steadfast and united in the face of opposition
• For the children and teenagers affected by these events, that the Lord would bring peace and healing
• For the community of St. Paul, that the hope of the Gospel would shine even brighter

As Pastor Parnell so clearly stated:
“The hope of the world is Jesus Christ.”
May we continue to stand together—firm in truth, strong in love, and unwavering in our mission to make Christ known.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5
