🚂 U.P. BIG BOY No. 4014 arrives in Indiana this week!
The world's largest operating steam locomotive is heading to Philadelphia for America's 250th anniversary on the 4th of July! 🇺🇸

And it has to come right through Indiana! It will travel east across the state June 5th-6th. You can see it in Chicago on Wednesday, and it will be in Indiana by Friday and Saturday.

Then it comes back through Indiana July 16th going west.

It is not going through South Bend because it has been determined too big for some bridges/overpasses.

Union Pacific friendly reminder: Please stay at least 25 feet away from the tracks. Standing near or on the tracks is not just trespassing, but very dangerous.

Metamonong Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution are having a Tea Party. Bring your daughters, grand daughters, or great grand daughters, niece, etc.. I'm sure they will have fun.

We are doing cemetery tour for June. We will meet at the Historical Museum at 1:00 pm Thursday June 4, 2026. And carpool from there. Please let Janet or I know if you are going so we have enough vehicles lined up.

Malia/Burroughs & Idle would be a nice round trip. They are close to each other. We could add in Koster as it is only a couple miles west of Idle. (Depending on time).

Here's what we cover:

- Fold3's 2.4 million Revolutionary War pension images are now full-text searchable thanks to handwriting recognition. That means you can search for any name mentioned in a pension, not just the pensioner.
- Ancestry is now pushing roughly 5 million additional record images, including probate files, through the same full-text search pipeline.
- The new Photo Insights feature uses AI to analyze photos and documents in your gallery, estimating date ranges, locations, and historical context.
- Full document transcription is available for anything you upload to Ancestry.
- Ancestry Preserve lets you ship a box of physical photos, slides, film reels, and documents to be digitized and automatically added to your tree.
- 90 new US DNA Journeys have been added, focused on migration patterns within the United States.
