St. Ann Catholic Church in Kewanna was officially demolished during the week of March 30, 2026. A decree to demolish the parish was signed by Bishop Doherty in May 2024, due to the changing population of Kewanna, dwindling Mass attendance, significant deterioration of the physical structure of the church, and the absence of funds — both internal and external – needed to keep up with the maintenance of the church building. The parish has not held regular Sunday Masses since August 2020.

A number of sacred items and architectural pieces were removed prior to demolition, including the building’s stain glass windows and cornerstone. At this time, the diocese plans to store these items until they can be properly used in other churches in the future.
