That simple conviction has shaped First Christian Church for generations.
At a time when so many voices are asking who belongs and who doesn't, the Gospel points us back to Jesus. Again and again, Jesus shared meals with people who were overlooked, doubted, struggling, searching, and sometimes even rejected by others.
The table was never about proving worthiness.
It was always about receiving grace.

Why do we celebrate Communion every week?

Why is everyone is welcome at the Table?

This Sunday in our "Why This Church?" series, we'll explore one of the most important parts of who we are as First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

In Luke 24, the risen Christ is recognized in the breaking of the bread. In 1 Corinthians 11, we are reminded that the Lord's Table belongs to Jesus—not to any one person, congregation, or denomination.

Join us for worship as we discover why Christ's invitation is still open, why the Table matters, and why everyone is welcome.

What a joyful Sunday at First Christian Church! ❤️

Today we celebrated:
🎓 Our 2026 graduates
📚 Disciple Scholarship recipients
🧢 A special children’s message about the many “hats” we wear in life and the new journeys graduation brings
⛺ The commissioning of campers and families attending Grandparent & Me Camp and Otter Camp at Camp Christian
🎹 The gift of music in worship shared by guest musician Beverly Drapalik
🙏 A congregation growing together in Christ

As we began our new sermon series, *Why This Church?*, we reflected on one of the clearest answers to that question:
Because we center our lives on Jesus Christ — his love, grace, table, and call to serve.

In a world full of division and distraction, we gather to worship, encourage one another, and follow Jesus together across generations.

Thank you to everyone who helped make worship so meaningful today. We are grateful for every child, volunteer, musician, leader, and member who continues to make FCC Wilmington a welcoming and faithful church home.

🎹 What a wonderful beginning for Music on Columbus!

This afternoon, First Christian Church welcomed 47 guests for our inaugural concert featuring the 4 Praise Piano Quartet — and together we raised $495 for the FCC Organ Maintenance Fund! 👏

The sanctuary was filled with beautiful music, laughter, applause, and community as Marilyn Myers, Jennie Harner, Mindy Lee, and Debbie Vesely shared their incredible gifts through two-piano/eight-hand music.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported the concert, and helped launch this new community music series in downtown Wilmington. Events like this remind us how music brings people together and fills sacred spaces with joy.

We are already looking forward to the next Music on Columbus concert at First Christian Church! 🎶
