God Names
That by it we might see his works and his glory in them

Genesis 1:3-5 (GW)
3 Then God said, “Let there be light!” So there was light.
4 God saw the light was good. So God separated the light from the darkness.
5 God named the light day, and the darkness he named night. There was evening, then morning—the first day.

1.He named what He made.
2.And we have no right to make changes.
3.Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil.
4.Who put darkness for light...and light for darkness.
5.Isa. 5:20... Look at those people! They say good is bad and bad is good. They think light is dark and dark is light. They think sour is sweet and sweet is sour.
6.God calls things by their right names.
7.If we use His vocabulary.
8.We must also use His dictionary.
9.See Prov. 17:15...The Lord hates these two things: punishing the innocent and letting the guilty go free.

God Creates
Believe these words, and you can believe all that follows in the Bible

Genesis 1:1-2 (GW)
1 In the beginning God created heaven and earth.
2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep water. The Spirit of God was hovering over the water.

1.Everything begins with God and fulfills His purposes for His glory.
2.Col.1:16–17... Through his power all things were made...things in heaven and on earth, seen and not seen...all spiritual rulers, lords, powers, and authorities...Everything was made through him and for him...17 The Son was there before anything was made...And all things continue because of him.
3.Rev. 4:11... Our Lord and God...You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power.
You made all things...Everything existed and was made because you wanted it.
4.He works by the power of His Word.
5.Ps.33:6–9... 6 The Lord spoke the command, and the world was made...The breath from his mouth created everything in the heavens...7 He gathered together the water of the sea.
He put the ocean in its place...8 Everyone on earth should fear and respect the Lord...All the people in the world should fear him...9 because when he speaks, things happen...And if he says, “Stop!”—then it stops.[b]
6.The Same Word That Can Work In Our Lives.
7.1 Thess. 2:13... Also, we always thank God because of the way you accepted his message. You heard it and accepted it as God’s message, not our own. And it really is God’s message. And it works in you who believe.
8.He works according to a plan.
9.First He Forms.
10.Then He Fills.
11.He Formed the earth and filled it with plants and animals.
12.He Formed the firmament and filled it with stars and planets.
13.He formed the seas and filled them with living creatures.
14.He can form and fill our lives today if we will yield to Him.
15.Persons who have trusted Jesus Christ are a part of the new creation.
16.2 Cor. 4:6... God once said, “Let light shine out of the darkness!”[b] And this is the same God who made his light shine in our hearts to let us know that his own divine greatness is seen in the face of Christ.

Jesus Prays Alone
39-40 Jesus left the city and went to the Mount of Olives. His followers went with him. (He went there often.) He said to his followers, “Pray for strength against temptation.”
41 Then Jesus went about 50 steps away from them. He knelt down and prayed,
42 “Father, if you are willing, please don’t make me drink from this cup.[e] But do what you want, not what I want.”
43 Then an angel from heaven came to help him.
44 Jesus was full of pain; he struggled hard in prayer. Sweat dripped from his face like drops of blood falling to the ground.[f]
45 When he finished praying, he went to his followers. He found them asleep, worn out from their grieving.
46 Jesus said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray for strength against temptation.”

1.Every description which the evangelists give of the state of mind.
2.In which our Lord entered upon this conflict.
3.Proves the tremendous nature of the assault.
4.And the perfect foreknowledge of its terrors.
5.Possessed by the meek and lowly Jesus.
6.When Christ was in his agony.
7.There appeared to him an angel from heaven.
8.Strengthening him.
9.It was a part of his humiliation.
10.That he was thus strengthened by a ministering spirit.

Know the will of God and walk worthy of Him

Colossians 1:9-13
9 Don’t lie to each other. You have taken off those old clothes—the person you once were and the bad things you did then.
10 Now you are wearing a new life, a life that is new every day. You are growing in your understanding of the one who made you. You are becoming more and more like him.
11 In this new life it doesn’t matter if you are a Greek or a Jew, circumcised or not. It doesn’t matter if you speak a different language or even if you are a Scythian.[b] It doesn’t matter if you are a slave or free. Christ is all that matters, and he is in all of you.
12 God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you. So your new life should be like this: Show mercy to others. Be kind, humble, gentle, and patient.
13 Don’t be angry with each other, but forgive each other. If you feel someone has wronged you, forgive them. Forgive others because the Lord forgave you.

1.Paul prays that the Colossians would know the will of God.
2.And walk worthy of Him.
3.That they would be fruitful and strengthened with His might.
4.And that they would be patient and full of joy.
5.Christians should Endeavour to be filled with knowledge.
6.Not only to know the will of God.
7.But to know more of it...and to increase in the knowledge of God.
8.And to grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour.
9.2 Pet.3:18...Grow in grace and understanding of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ. Glory to the Master, now and forever! Yes!

Looking
When we see Jesus, we shall be like Him

Philippians 3:20-21
20 But there's far more to life for us. We're citizens of high heaven! We're waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ,
21 who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He'll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him.

1.Paul looked up and eagerly anticipated the return of the Lord.
2.Christ had taken care of his past (v. 13).
3.And He would also take care of his future.
4.And as for Paul’s present...his confidence was knowing that “He is able.
5.Phil.3: 21...Christ will change our humble bodies and make them like his own glorious body.
6.Christ can do this by his power, with which he is able to rule everything.
7.Paul Emphasizes that through faith.
8.A person's previous life and sins are forgiven and no longer define them.
9.Philippians 3:13-14... 13 Brothers and sisters, I can't consider myself a winner yet. This is what I do: I don't look back, I lengthen my stride, and
14 I run straight toward the goal to win the prize that God's heavenly call offers in Christ Jesus.
10.Colossians 3:1-4 (GW)
1. Since you were brought back to life with Christ.
2.Focus on the things that are above.
3.Where Christ holds the highest position.
4.Keep your mind on things above, not on worldly things.
5.You have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
6.Christ is your life.
7.When he appears...then you...Too.
8.Will appear with him in glory.

Weeping
Following Godly Examples
Brothers and Sisters...Imitate me
And Pay Attention

Philippians 3:17-19
17 Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal.
18 There are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals, and trying to get you to go along with them. I've warned you of them many times; sadly, I'm having to do it again. All they want is easy street. They hate Christ's Cross.
19 But easy street is a dead-end street. Those who live there make their bellies their gods; belches are their praise; all they can think of is their appetites.

1.This is the only mention of tears in a letter devoted to joy.
2.Paul wept over professed Christians who lived to please themselves.
3.Instead of having the mind of Christ.
4.They thought like the world.
5.To be spiritually minded.
6.Simply Means to look at earth from heaven’s point of view.
7.Give your heart to the heavenly things.

9.Col. 3:2...Think only about what is up there, not what is here on earth.
10.Practice Occupying your Minds with the things above.

Reaching
Following Paul’s Example

Philippians 3:12-16
12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
15 All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.
16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

1.Christians are like runners.
2.Who refuse to look around or look back.
3.But keep running with their eyes on the goal.
4.To look back at past successes or failures.
5.Or to look around to see what others are doing or saying.
6.Is To Invite Defeat.
7.Hebrews 12:1–2...1 Since we are surrounded by so many examples {of faith}, we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up.
2 We must focus on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith. He saw the joy ahead of him, so he endured death on the cross and ignored the disgrace it brought him. Then he received the highest position in heaven, the one next to the throne of God.

Counting
Christ Is More Important Than Anything

Philippians 3:1-11
1 And now, my brothers and sisters, be filled with joy in the Lord. It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again. I want to be sure that you are prepared.
2 Be careful of the dogs—those men whose work does only harm. They want to cut on everyone who isn’t circumcised.[a]
3 But we are the ones who have the true circumcision[b]—we who worship God through his Spirit. We don’t trust in ourselves or anything we can do. We take pride only in Christ Jesus.
4 Even if I am able to trust in myself, still I don’t do it. If anyone else thinks they have a reason to trust in themselves, they should know that I have a greater reason for doing so.
5 I was circumcised on the eighth day after my birth. I am from the people of Israel and the tribe of Benjamin. I am a true Jew, and so were my parents. The law was very important to me. That is why I became a Pharisee.
6 I was so eager to defend my religion[c] that I persecuted the church. And no one could find fault with the way I obeyed the Law of Moses.
7 At one time all these things were important to me. But because of Christ, I decided that they are worth nothing.
8 Not only these things, but now I think that all things are worth nothing compared with the greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Because of Christ, I lost all these things, and now I know that they are all worthless trash. All I want now is Christ.
9 I want to belong to him. In Christ I am right with God, but my being right does not come from following the law. It comes from God through faith. God uses my faith in[d] Christ to make me right with him.
10 All I want is to know Christ and the power that raised him from death. I want to share in his sufferings and be like him even in his death.
11 Then there is hope that I myself will somehow be raised from death.

1.What is important to you.
2.Do you feel you have made sacrifices to follow the Lord.
3.Paul did not feel he had lost anything worthwhile by trusting Christ.
4.Instead...he gained everything really worth having.
5.1 John 2:15-17...Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
6.Deuteronomy 10:12...And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

12.Psalm 16:11...You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is Fullness of Joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Drinks His Water "Will Never Be Thirsty"

John 4:12-15
12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”
13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again,
14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

1.Inside every human heart exists a God-induced craving.
2.A Spiritual Thirst.
3.That Only He Can Satisfy.
4.Ecclesiastes 3:11...Everything has its own time, and there is a specific time for every activity under heaven:
5.Psalm 42:2...My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When may I come to see God's face?
6.Psalm 63:1...A psalm by David when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, you are my God. At dawn I search for you. My soul thirsts for you. My body longs for you in a dry, parched land where there is no water.
7.He made us that way so we would seek to know Him.
